poor dude. He really did mean a lot to the franchise. after hearing about how everyone in the organization respected the crap out of him, even after he played horribly, speaks volumes of his character as a person. and the fact that he is not holding a grudge is also amazing.

he really is a class act. good luck jake

So what? The guy sucked on the field and was way overpaid. He has a 12.5 million paycheck coming as a parting gift.

And as for as holding a grudge....are you serious? How can he when we are the only team stupid enough to keep him as a starter well past his time to hang it up AND pay him stupid money?

i don't blame jake for his sucking. he just sucks and he can't really help that. I blame fox for keeping him in all season and making everyone hate a good person.

Genuinely good guy that put everything he had into the team. Unfortunately for all involved, everything he had was not enough.

indeed. I can't blame the guy for trying his damnedest every single week. I wish every football player that plays for the panthers would have his desire and drive.

I dont think there's ever been a more selfish and money hungry player to ever play for the Panthers than Jake Delhomme. "I felt blindsided" KISS MY ASS! We felt blindsided by your sh*tty play Jake, we felt blindsided by you and your agent taking Mr.Richardson to the woodshed in the offseason last year after you had your WORST GAME EVER. If Jake Delhomme really cared about this team he would've taken a paycut to stay here or given some of those $$$ he stole back. But no, we get Jake crying at press conferences wiping his tears with 100 dollar bills. GTFOH! Its all about the money with #17. I'm glad we have Matt Moore who's alot more humble and less arrogant than Delhomme.

If Jake was such a bad teamate, then why is he universally respected by the whole franchise?

You honestly think if Moore was in the same situation he wouldve paid money back? Forget about Moore, how many players have you heard of who gave back money because they sucked?

    • DeAngelo Williams: 1515 yards (2008) Steven Davis: 1444 yards (2003) Christian McCaffrey: 1387 yards (2019) Chuba Hubbard: 1195 yards (2024) Jonathan Stewart: 1133 yards (2009)   DeAngelo Williams 1515 yards in 2008 are most in Panthers history for a season this was when Double Trouble was at it's height. That year he averaged 94 yards a game. Steven Davis missed 2 games 2003 so he comes in at the most yards per game in a season at 103 yards. Mccaffrey averaged 86 yards a game in his 2019 campaign he also recorded 1005 yards receiving making his season statistically the best in Panthers history for a RB, had the Panthers had a better record he could have been a favorite for MVP. Dowdle currently is averaging 81 yards a game despite only starting 3 games thus far. In the games he has started 206, 183, 130 he's averaging 173 yards. In Green Bay he rushed for 130 despite having a 21 yard run wiped out due to illegal procedure penalty that could of saw a 150 yard day.    Top 5 yards per carry. Dowdle 5:6 (2025) Williams: 5.5 (2008) Stewart: 5.1 (2009) Mccaffrey: 4.8 (2019) Hubbard: 4.7 (2024) If Dowdle continues even close to the pace he's on he's poised to break DeAngelo Williams single season Panther rushing record.
    • The BY9 situation is classic sunk cost fallacy. We traded premium assets to get him. Every few games he flashes the traits that made him appealing (quick reads, touch, composure) but the macro picture doesnt lie. Hes producing at a bottom-tier level across efficiency metrics in yards per attempt, EPA/play, completion percentage over expected, and explosive plays. Instead of objectively reassessing, the organization continues to justify the investment - new coaches, new systems, new excuses - trying to salvage what was invested. Giving him a 5th year is a self inflicted would.  We need to take our lumps and move on
