This Season Frightens Me

All I know is the first 10 games of next season can't possibly be much worse than last seasons'.

and if the Panthers make it to the playoffs it can't possibly be as miserable as the Arizona game the season before last.

This season is unpredictable but to be honest the Panthers weren't really going anywhere as it was...except continuing overpaid mediocrity.

You're completely ignoring that we have:

1) Best run game in the league

2) Top 3 offensive line in the league

3) Top 10 receiver

4) Elite linebacker core

5) Above average/arguably elite secondary

Yeah D-Line might downgrade our linebackers and secondary but we aren't even sure how the d-line will do. It's not like we have scrubs on the d-line, we have a 2nd round DE who is great at getting to the QB, C. Johnson who has done very well with his limited playing time, Leonard who showed flashes of brilliance last season, and Tank Tyler looked solid too.

Free agency started like a week ago and the draft hasn't even happened. The sky isn't falling, people need to calm down.

Just repeat this over and over:

At least we aren't the Browns, At least we aren't the Browns, At least we aren't the Browns, At least we aren't the Browns, At least we aren't the Browns.

D-Line is so important in the NFL. If you can't rush the QB and you can't stop the run, you're dead.

O it can be worse. ask the bucs!

edit: or the rams, or the chiefs.

lol

While that may be true I think the fact that there were only 3-5 teams that had it worse than the Panthers is the point...especially when half those were rebuilding where as the Panthers were MORE than established comparatively speaking.

I'm sorry, but this season might be really UGLY. No defensive line. No experience at QB. Yikes!

i've made a website called lemonparty.org

it's for everyone that's soured on this offseason.

go there, sign the guest book and petition, etc.

    • Option A:  Pay your starting QB starting QB money. Option B:  Look for a starting QB for 4-10 years (or longer) while wasting the talent at every other position.    How many of the top 20 QB's do you think are worth what they are being paid?   When you factor in the last year of his present deal his contract is really an average of 45 million per year which in today's QB market is a very, very good deal. I wish we'd had found a Brock Purdy to pay 50+ million a year right after we parted ways with Cam.  Ya'll go ahead and live in fairy tale land where good to great (much less elite) QB's are available to pay. Just the fact that they had the chance to pay Brock after the disaster of trading up for Lance is a testament that when you find a quarter back you can win with, complete in the playoffs and superbowls with, you pay him.
    • They will still be a playoff team but they aren't contenders anymore IMO. They won't be able to spend like they have when they went to a SB and proved he couldn't carry a win at that level with a really good team around him. Now he is going to have to do it with less to spend around him. They just locked in to being a playoff bound team that's going to be a known speed bump for whoever will represent the NFC in the SB.
    • Hmm. I think he'll live up to it. Last year, about half of his team was on IR it seems, at one time or another. Year before, Super Bowl appearance. Year before that, playoff run after being third on the depth chart and being pressed into service. Is he one of the greatest in the game right now? Nope. No chance of that. Is he in the top 10 going into next season? Pretty good chance of that.  Would 20 or more teams in this league love to have the guy as their starting QB. Most likely so. He's a good QB who can implement his coach's game plan to a T and has both the confidence of and confidence in his teammates. That'll take you a long way in this league if you've got the right cast around you, and he does.
