Strange timing after he locks up Rod and staff - anything going on between him and the owner?

Unless Dundon isn't happy with the way the season ended. Otherwise, I think you're right, the timing sucks because of all the FAs they have to deal with (9 UFA, 6 RFA), $30M in cap space and a loaded draft coming up with 9 picks available to the Canes. This may not technically be a "rebuild" year, but for all the work that needs to be done to complete the roster, it may as well be one.

I'm curious to know when his contract expires, though. The article says "this summer," but when is very important. July is when free agency starts, the draft comes along... are we gonna lose Donny in the midst of all that?

And yeah, for those of you experiencing Panther GM nightmares from years gone past, rest assured replacing Waddell will not be easy. He has been an exceptional GM and is probably one of the best in the league. Any team that does land him, if he's willing to go, will be immediately better.

Should be soon, he’ll get one of the open jobs and be gone before fa starts for sure.

No way a lame duck GM is gonna be allowed to participate in selecting  players. He’ll be long gone.

I wish Don well he is a good GM.

    • I wonder if the Hornets view Kon and McNeeley more as forwards and plan to ship off Green/Okogie/Smith for center help. I hope they don’t plan to ship off Sexton as I like what he brings to the team. (2) G - Ball, Mann, Simpson (two-way) (3) G - Sexton, Dinwiddie, Connaughton (3) F - Miller, Knueppel, McNeeley, James (two-way) (3) F - Bridges, Williams, Salaun (3) C - Diabate, Kalkbrenner, Plumlee
    • 3 main reasons he was better in 2023 and none of them concern me for his NFL prospects 1. Totally new coaching staff that was a massive downgrade and had god awful play calling and designs, the entire fan base was ready to run the coaching staff out of town a month into their first season and the play caller ended up getting changed because it was so bad. 2. Along with the staff downgrade, his QB played significantly worse after being the Pac 12 Freshman of the Year in 2023.  Constantly missed T-Mac when he was wide open, lost out on a number of TDs and a good amount of yardage, half the time T-Mac still almost made miraculous catches on the bad passes too. 3. He hurt his ankle over the summer and missed all of fall camp only to return to practice a few days before the season started and I think he had to deal with it all season long and was slightly limping at times mid season too, but kept fighting through it to still be a 1st team All American.
    • Good luck to Burns. He’s fine as a third pairing defensemen but Rod is too stubborn to do that.
