i'm just going through my typical routine of trying to figure out who our WR will be, and i was watching mardy gilyard highlights, and i heard the announcer say tony pike's name. and i had completely forgotten that he was gilyard's QB...

so my question is, i know John Fox and Co. went up there to their pro day, or at least one of our scouts did... do you guys know if they were looking at Pike or Gilyard? i'll take assumptions as well...

It better be Gilyard, if we draft Pike I will throw things. It would be about like our FO to finally address the QB position in the draft that they would pick yet another 4th round waste. Pike has bust written all over him. Gilyard was his Steve Smith.

Could be both and someone else. I think scouts make their money in assessing guys in rds 3-7 and udfa. The correct answer is, we should be looking for talent. Period.

Gilyard. The Panther's will draft a WR. They know Steve Smith demands it, and really he has a right to. I really believe Gilyard is the most likley pick the Panthers will make as of now and probably before the draft unless something happens in FA. Personally, I would want to move up and grab Tate.

agreed... i've actually been thinking that it might be a good idea to move down a few picks and pick up some more along the way. trade lower into the 2nd and pick up a few more fourths and fifths.

I have mixed feelings on whether to move up or down. up to get someone like Golden Tate. or trade our 2nd to a team that wants to move up in the 2nd for their 2nd, 4th and 5th or whatever. and take Gilyard in the late 2nd

    • All signs point to legit. We’ve been way better than our record the last few years it’s just we’ve had brutal injury luck. Also I’ve watched nearly every game this year and 3 things have stood out to me even when healthy from early in the year to now: 1. Early on Lee had some brutal rotations and situational coaching but he’s improved a ton there. We lost some close ones early we should’ve won. Sure most our recent games have been blowouts but in close games we’ve improved a ton there. 2. Defense. Overall team defense has improved so much, it’s not just hot shooting winning games. This D is absolutely a real trend and sustainable. LaMelo in particular has gone from flat out bad defensively to above average. We have so much length we always should’ve been good defensively but it took time for guys to buy in and really hone in on it which they have.   3. Pretty much all our young guys have taken strides forward. Moose’s development as a passer has been insane, Miller is putting it all together to be an elite 3 tier scorer able to hit 3s, mid range and finish at the rim. LaMelo still some poor shot selection but has cut the turnovers considerably. Kon has been a great shooter all year but has steadily improved in other aspects of the game too.      It has definitely been surprising how quickly it all came together out of nowhere but really none of it surprises me. We’ve been building towards this for years now.
