Smelling a trade down

"I went with Price to the Panthers in my last mock because they desperately need help at wideout and I have heard that is a guy they like. I don't see there being a quarterback available who is worthy of that pick in the middle of Round 2 but I guess defensive end could be a possibility. My money is on wideout for Carolina though"

considering 48th pick may be little bit too high for this guy (and I read his name for Panthers from several sources, so there is some smoke), do u think a classic trade down comes for Panthers and may be a second 3rd rounder....

I think it's a risky move to trade down, even if Price shouldn't be taken that high at 48 we need another threat desperately it would be too risky to leave that to chance on a trade down and hope he's still there. Every year there is a position they say is so deep but on draft day that class get's taken up in the first two rounds because of teams reaching. If he's the guy you want and he's there, go for him.

Um, that's exactly why we WOULD trade down. Trading down = more picks to fill more holes...

what he means is that we have enough needs that the odds of us not having value at that pick (at either WR, DT, DE or maybe CB) are slim. Somebody in a position of need will fall to us and be good value.

I hope so. I'm a big fan of trading down-especially in a draft like this one- with few elite players but 50-75 strong ones. Chances are good that the large, fairly equal group of receivers left at #48 would have some available late rd. 3 or early rd. 4. Why not trade with Cards( for #58 & 88) or anyone and get 2 shots at a good WR/KR (Price, Shipley, Gilyard, Lafell, Ford, Decker, Briscoe, McCluster- should all be available)or potential QB (Skelton, LeFevour) essentially for free.

Our 2nd rounder is pretty valuable this year. I think we could probably trade our 2nd for a future first, which I would absolutely love.

Don't think we'll trade down though. I see moving up to get a playmaker if one drops far enough(into the 2nd, that is.)

Fifth rounders are only valued in the 30's, mostly, which would only amount to sliding a few spots. The only hole in that theory is the Pats have the SECOND of thier 2nd round picks right before ours and if anyone wanted to move up, they would call them before us...unless Hurney starts putting out feelers first.

It's possible. I just don't think it'll happen.

Me either, because the possibility of no one at 48 with great value is slim to none. My only rationale is if there is a player left on the board that the FO likes and is darn near certain will be there 3-4 picks later AND find a willing partner to trade with in order to pull this off. I know they are bummed about the loss of that fifth round pick.

This is the year to pay the piper on the first rounder, beacuse they can't keep trading back into it indefinitely.

    • Another layer to that is Ive seen Seattle has been in the market for CB help this off-season.   Michael had a higher PFF grade than Horn who got 15 games this season. He wants to be here too, that's a huge bonus for any 5 win team that had awful pass rush.  The 7th rounder Michael Barrett didn't last long on Seattle, he was cut before the season I think and ended up on browns PS. He's already been on 5.......5 teams within one year.......
    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
    • THANKS my guy! Keeping up with this threads theme, if I view a thread and there's only 20 posts and some time passes. If I see there's one new post and read the name; @Dave Gettleman's Shortsis among the chosen few that I will reopen that thread just to see what you posted.    Thanks again, plus not just a scout, thats scotty mccloughans son?!?!? If not for the deep claws of booze, scotty is among the best talent finders this league has recently had. Last I heard he ran a consulting business. Caden could be one of those who's on a early path to being a GM in the future. I was a big fan of his dad, dam shame about booze demon ruining his career.
