Anyone else tired of this mindset?

Situation: Player X sucked while playing for *random team*

Panthers fan mindset: Player X just wasn't in the right situation there. He just needs a change of scenery, he'd be great here! Let's give up one of our few draft picks for him!

it happens from time to time. randy moss is probably the most well known example. i wouldn't build a whole team off it, but if the scouts do their jobs properly and decide it's worth a shot, why not?

As a guy who has coached a few sports and several age groups, I don't mind this at all.

I had kids that either the coach gave up on them or they clashed and they would quit or go out for a new team the following year and then blow up.

Chemistry, communication, knowing somebody believes in you can make a ton of difference. Coach em up still works.

What dont you bozos (silverblade, number28) get about KP30's post here? Hes talking about picking up Marcus Hudson, Wallace Wright and alike. He is making a point that we give up draft pick for lousy players instead of trading for someone good and proven like say: Boldin, Marshall, Holmes, etc....

Proven to be expensive. Based on the CBA and what the front office is thinking, you have to maximize value for today and tomorrow.

Do I like the way they are doing this? Not really. Do I understand financially? You bet your PE Ratio I do.

Um, no, I don't think that's what he's getting at.

He's probably talking about us clamoring to pick up players from other teams who we think might excel here (see Jason Campbell, Ted Ginn, David Carr, etc.).

Hudson, Wright and these special teamers were brought on because of how they have played, not because we think they'll play better. They are going to be good special teamers, and probably little more than that.

This is what I meant. You have a better way with words than I do.

^^ That's what I made the thread for

Sorry that I don't advocate giving up draft picks for players that have been mediocre since entering the league(save for Campbell, who has been average.)

and the Randy Moss situation isn't comparable to Ginn. Moss established a HOF career in Minnesota. He simply didn't want to play in Oakland and didn't try. None of these guys deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as him.

    • He's handing off play calling duties to fuging Brad Idzik as well so, either that mouth breather can run the playbook and Canales can grow as an all around head coach or it will be a horrible decision and both of them and BY can screw off. I'm fine with that as long as it isn't just another excuse for BY to get another year with another coach worthy of working around his limitations as a qb.
    • Not only for Andersen but the whole team, having not beat the Habs this season before tonite.  Shows them that they aren't jinxed.
    • I understand why people say things like it could be worse in relation to Tepper but it just doesn't jive for me. Are the optics bad? Yes. Would I want her to be the owner of my team? No. But I mean she's only been owner for a year and the Colts overall are a better run organization. As far as I know they've also never had the distinction of having the worst win percentage in all of professional sports either. Tepper has owned this team for 8 years and about the only thing that has been consistent has been the ability to continue to find different ways to achieve new lows. Even now people are saying things are different yada yada but we said these same things at certain points under Rhule Fitterer and Reich. I'm going to wait to see how the rubber meets the road this upcoming season before I make any strong conclusions about anything in relation to the longevity under this franchise going forward.
