Mr. Patience at it again!

That's the problem with this fanbase. They comfortable waiting/hoping for change 2-3 years down the road. Then when those years pass they still preaching the same nonsense.

We aren't going anywhere without a franchise QB. It's 2024 wake up people! Our Oline is legit RIGHT NOW! We have young WRs with potential. Go get your QB!

What good is a LB when the offense still being led by a little kid. You want to change your franchise go get your QB.

If we go your route, at best we are this years Patriots. And that’s IF the guy you select in the 1st is “the guy”. Not saying Drake maye is it yet, but early signs are good. Basically you have a QB with no help. We have no help and no QB. And no assured can’t miss QB prospect is in this draft.

Look, we all agree that you need a franchise QB to win and win consistently. At some point we have to evaluate the player/prospect. If your evaluations say draft the guy, then proceed to do so.

Drake Maye has nothing on offense lol

We already have a decent Oline and good young WRs. Bad comparison.

Even if the Pats aren't winning you can see they have a franchise QB. Once they get him a Oline and a WR that team is gonna takeoff.

Hey man I'm not here to tell you what to believe. Im just speaking for me and what I'm seeing around the league. These bottom feeders are getting better because they got their QB. It's the most important position in football imo. I understand some may disagree, but yeah I don't see how this franchise will have success without a franchise QB. Usually that's what makes teams consistently good.

The Panthers have KC (in what should be a trap game for them when we have 2 weeks to prepare--won't matter)--

KC

TBay x2

Arizona

Dallas

Philly

Atlanta

I see one win vs. Dallas as possible.  I predict that we finish 4-13.  By then, we will be picking in the top 5.  I think the Giants will get the #1 pick.  Daboll, Jones will be gone.  Ward will be the next Giant QB.  The prophesy is written.

The difference is that some of us have been fans since the very beginning. That's 30 years of this poo. Most of that time was without a franchise QB.

This is not anything new to OG fans. Been here before.

Your ideas of instant contender status with a QB are quite frankly, moronic. There are several years left of building, even with Pat Mahomes.

The qb position has been eliminated due to the low probability of the success of selecting one early.

This part got me hollering the most

"You can't get so hyperfocused on one position(even the most important position in football like QB) that you just draft a QB and any QB. This leads to wasted draft picks and years of torment as you are stuck in a development cycle for nothing."

"Also, if we don't get our franchise QB this draft....oh well. We got the next dozen or so drafts to keep taking cracks at it."

I mean, do you want to keep firing darts at this board blindly? How badly do you want to cement our status as the new Browns?

I think we will be a 4 win team too. Probably beat Dallas and then one NFC South win.

I don't think that ends up as top 5, though. Likely 6-10 range. Hella competition for that #1 overall.

How can you say..You can't get so hyperfocused on one position(even the most important position in football like QB) that you just draft a QB and any QB

Then turn around and say We got the next dozen or so drafts to keep taking cracks at it.

Maybe I misunderstood your point

So we are at #10?

With the tenth pick of the 2017 NFL draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Patrick Mahomes.  The top qb picked that year was Mitch Trubski.

Miles Garrett was the number one overall pick that year and he has had a excellent career.  Of course, Cleveland is still terrible.

Building a winning franchise is not about who gets the highest picks.  Its about who makes the best picks, and especially in the later rounds.

I get you are a super fan but it's unlikely that Sanders will be an elite NFL QB. It's also unlikely he will be available when we are picking.

What are you basing your assumptions that it's unlikely he will be elite? Or you just guessing?

    • It's honestly pretty interesting just seeing this pairing play out. Canales’ offenses (Seattle, Tampa) are run-first, under-center, play-action systems built around defined reads and intermediate/deep timing throws. That structure worked when he had QBs like Baker Mayfield or Russell Wilson in a system that created clear launch points and sightlines. His success has always been tied to a credible run game + play-action gravity. You can see that with the Panthers team building philosophy as well. Coker and TMac both are bigger receivers that won't get the best YAC production but thrive as possession receivers in contested scenarios. They're not the best in space and creating additional yardage in such, and would likely fair better systematically with a stronger armed QB who can create better opportunities on those boundary 1v1 matchups with stronger throws. Bryce, on the other hand, is a spread-native QB. His strengths are rhythm, spacing, quick processing, and off-script creation. Asking him to live in condensed formations with long-developing play-action concepts just hasn't been his forte. And well, his boundary throws are limited in velocity which takes a big chunk of the playbook off. And I mean a QB like Bryce can still work, it's just Dave's offensive philosophy and foundation is very much at odds with Young's physical limits and his own experience. So it's certainly still a learning experience for Dave to figure out how he can mesh his offensive philosophy with Young's strengths. He's very inexperienced with maximizing Bryce's strengths with his system. Would love to see us bring in an OC with spread experience and adaptability to implement a cohesive system with Dave to allow Bryce to thrive, as it's obvious we're sticking with him for a bit longer.
    • Only thing I really agreed with is questioning why we didn’t take any timeouts on their last drive.  I know hindsight is 20/20, but I think it would’ve saved clock bc they were desperate to score as soon as the opportunity presented itself, but I also think it could’ve helped the defense regroup and maybe give us a better chance to stop them.
