Yep just watched the highlights of the game.  Burns was historically bad.  This may have been Burns worst game as a cane. Good grief he was beat 4 times out of position for a breakaway goal from the Aves. We need Nikishin badly.

Also, I know @Anybodyhomeand TLT aren’t fans of our boy but Kooch had one bad goal. Just one. He stopped 3 breakaways and played well.

You don't know anything if that's what you think.

I've never said I'm not a fan of 52. The Canes hitched their wagon to him and, for better or worse, he's the only option at the #1.

Both of the 5-hole goals were on him. His technique on the butterfly isn't good because he never gets his stick on the ice in front of him. He hasn't mastered how to use the stick as a third blocker to cover the 5. One of the reasons he loses his stick is because he isn't comfortable with it as another appendage. He acts like it gets in his way if he's not using it for a poke check and looks as though he'd rather play the position without it at times.

I'm supporting the kid. He's still learning the position and, hopefully, he continues to develop his craft.

Not only does he not get his stick on the ice to cover 5 hole, a lot of times his stick is actually laying on the ice. He abandons his stick more than any goalie I’ve ever seen.

Does anyone have the plus minus from last night. I wanna see Burns stats. Minus that assist I’ve never seen him play that bad.

I suppose I could take the same tact with you and say something like, "I know PF69 isn't a fan of our boy...," but the reality is Brent Burns isn't playing great, but, until last night, the entire team hasn't been good (2-3 last 5 heading into Thursday night).

The first breakaway MacKinnon had was totally not Burns. He was along the board and Martinook was spun down trying play him. Burns was pushed to the outside when Martinook went down, but no way was he going to catch Mac.

He pinched up on the right board when Slavin was carrying the puck into the zone and nobody was back. Couple things there; either there was no communication or Burns simply assumed, as most of us probably would, that Slavin would successfully rim the puck around behind the goal. It didn't happen. Slavin was clear down by the dots and the puck was stopped behind the net by the Avs and a long stretch pass followed with a breakaway goal. Burns was waiting on Slavin's rim, but it never got there. 

To answer your question, Burns is a -2 for the season, and -5 over the last 6. So, go ahead and roast him for that, and then look at the +3 from the previous 7 games. Keep in mind, he is a +2 for his entire career, so what we're seeing is not anything new, it's fairly consistent over a 1441 game career thus far. And also look at his TOI, which is at the lowest in his career, while his CF% and oZS% are both career highs. He may not be doing everything right, but most of it he's getting done.

Oh yeah, Slavin is a -3 over the last 6 games, too, so there's that.

You may think +/- is an important stat, but if you take a 3-3 record over the last 6 games, and 2 of those games were ass-kickings (6-3 and 6-0), everyone on the damn roster is going to be a -something except Necas, maybe.

2 things. First, relax my dude. I was only busting yalls balls. Second, this was what I was looking for with Burns. I counted 4 last night that lead to either a goal or a break away 1-1. Luckily, Koochie stopped 2 of them.  My observation is that he is wearing down faster like he did in the playoffs last year, only now it’s much much sooner. I’m hoping he can regain his form from the great start he had to the year.

Burns and Chatfield were both - 1 as were several of the forwards. Jarvis was -2 for comparison. I don’t put a lot of stock in +/- for a single game.

To me both Burns and Staal are showing their age. Seems to me Staal loses a lot of battles for the puck on the boards these days. I still like them but time is showing.

I thought that was pretty well-known, but I guess not. in Chicago, he was simply "PK" or "Pyotr the Great." I've heard "Kooch," which I'm kinda okay with, but "Koochie?" No fugging way have I or would I ever refer to him that way, nor do I think any of his teammates have ever called him that.

If you did, maybe I'd be BigDickRick rather than Stumpy... lol

Not only do multiple teammates call him Kucci, the coach has repeatedly used the nickname in interviews.

This is such a dumb hill to die on.

It is, but he didn't choose them, so I'm not sure what the point is. However, if he told the person asking, "Don't call me that," it's fairly safe to assume that's not the nickname the team gave him, either.

The players and rod call him Koochie all the time in interviews.
