Should Clausen start?

Looking good in camp is worlds away from starting an actual pro game.

More than one rookie has been ruined by starting too early (including our own Kerry Collins).

No way I want us going that route.

you have to look at the QBs who started as rookies and did pretty well. matt ryan and joe flacco for starters. stafford last year did really well considering the situation and mark sanchez, as much as i hate to admit it,did pretty well aside from having a few boneheaded decisions. more than likely bradford will be given the start right away as well.

when rookie QBs have been given the start in recent years they have pretty much busted the idea that they have to sit and learn. for all signs, clausen is every bit as talented as those other guys and might even be more talented. the major knock has been on his attitude. if he can have that under control enough than he will do really well whether he's a rookie or not. hopefully the slide was a wake up call for him.

i'm still on the moore bandwagon but i'm opening up to the idea that clausen might be the answer. fortunately we have a lot of time to find out and we have more choices long term than we did before.

A lot of the guys you're talking about are still works in progress, and some have shown some regression.

Sorry, I just can't support it. Especially not if maturity is an issue.

I don't give a rats ass who starts as long as they don't come in and lose games for us. Our game is the running game. All we need is a QB that can hold onto the ball, not throw more interceptions than touchdowns, and not flub the handoffs to Williams and Stewart.

I'm generally against rookie QB's starting right away unless the other QB's on the roster stink. I don't think Moore stinks, but I don't think he's a long term solution to the QB spot either. I'd really rather have Moore be good enough to start, and let Clausen learn the ropes for a year or two.

I'm not going to bitch no matter who starts unless they start throwing games away like Delhomme had a propensity to do in the latter part of his career.

In a word...no.

Rookie QBs should never start unless you have no other choice.

this. He will get his chance later in the season to shine if Moore starts to slump/get injured. Im actually starting to love this pick. If Moore shows he can be a competetive starter in the NFL, we can trade him for at least a 2nd rd pick, or Franchise him, and continue to develop Clausen.

Hell no this is Moore's job to lose he should get his chance. Clausen is good insurance but I think this will make Moore a much better QB he's going to have to work alot harder now. And it's not like John Fox to just hand over positions to rookie's like that, especially QB.
