I think grabbing Clausen is a smart move. Some rated him as the best of the QBs in the draft, although the overall evaluation of this crop is that it is a weak one. But being available in the 2nd round, I think he's a good pick. We got a good prospect without having to pay 1st round money! We needed WR help, and drafted several. The Panthers site at the NFL.com says that we have made some signings for special teams, which lost us as many games as our offense did last year. I'm curious that we used a pick on Pike, but, we'll see, I guess. I think we did pretty good overall.

I honestly have no clue who any of these players are (I heard clausen was born with a silver spoon in his mouth a week ago) and am disappointed we didn't address key positional needs we had with earlier draft picks.

I'll refrain from voting since, like I said, I have no clue and don't watch college football.

I gave the draft a B.

Clausen - Great value and great long term potential. Moore has shown lots of potential but he hasn't even completed a full season so it will be nice to develop Clausen in the event that Moore doesn't have a great season this year.

LaFell - Smitty wanted another wide receiver to draw attention away from him so they got a receiver in the mold of the only other receiver to have real success across from him. He has potential to be the next Moose or the next Jarrett. Let's hope it's the former.

Edwards - Seems to be somewhat of a reach this early but it is doubtful he was making it to our 4th round pick. He adds another body to the competition for returner and has potential to develop into a solid slot receiver in a few years. He's a little bit of a project for a draft pick from a round that should provide a starter or at least a solid two deep player but he should be exciting to watch either way.

Norwood - I am a huge South Carolina homer so of course I love this pick. I'm not sure whether they intend to use him at LB or DE but I could see him succeeding at both. He slimmed down prior to his senior season to help his move from DE to LB so he could easily put on a little more weight to make the move to DE. I think that is his best long term position since coverage was his biggest liability when he was at LB.

Hardy - Classic boom or bust player. Will he play to his potential or cash his check and cruise? Throw him in a rotation with Brown, Johnson, Brayton, and possibly Norwood and I think you've got a top third ranked pass rush.

Gettis - Worst case: More returner competition and special teams player. Best case: Competition for the 3rd receiver spot.

Pugh - Just heard that they will move him to safety. Yet another CB/S switching positions after being drafted. Too small to play SS and too deep at FS. Special teams player at best.

Pike - Another great value pick. This seems to seal Cantwell's fate as a practice squad player. I don't think they'd be able to stash Pike there.

Stanford - Fast player with potential to hang on as a special teams guy until he can develop at CB (or safety knowing the staff).

McClain - Practice squad guy at best.

I don't think that DT is going to be nearly as big of a problem with Tank Tyler and Louis Leonard coming back. The run defense improved significantly after the first part of the season last year. The only need that I don't think was addressed in the draft was OL depth and given the staff's ability to develop late round players they can probably find someone in the UDFAs to mold.

On a side note, I'm a long time lurker and first time poster. It is always entertaining reading the crap that the noobs get on here... so bring it on!!!!

I went with an A.

Clausen is imo the steal of the draft and has the tools to be a top 10 NFL QB.

LaFell has one of the biggest upsides of any WR that was drafted and runs better in game then his 40 would lead you to believe.

Edwards was a bit of a reach, but I like the pick. Amazing upside at KR/PR and as a WR...plus you can throw him in on wildcat packages for fun.

Norwood is a speed edge rusher that has a chance to see some time at DE on passing downs in the least.

Hardy was a good value pick in the 6th.

Same with David Gettis - speedy guy with some size.

Only pick I didn't like was the Tony Pike pick....But I'll let that one slid since it was a late round pick.

Tons of upside with the players that were picked..Good draft

I'm gonna throw this against the wall, you tell me if it sticks.

With only Moore and Cantwell on the roster, it was almost a given that we would be taking a QB in the later rounds. If Clausen hadn't fallen in our laps, Pike was still third round talent for sixth round value. The question would have been, could Cantwell and Pike have pushed Moore to compete for the starting posistion?

So, considering we did luck out with Clausen, the question becomes is Pike better than Cantwell? I lean toward "hell yes".

I'd hope he's better then Cantwell. That's not saying much either.... I know why they picked him..... I just thought they could've pick up an UDFA that would be able take over Cantwell's spot as the number 3.

I mean I did give the draft an A.
