Jimmy Clausen [Round 2, 16 (48)] Quarterback, Notre Dame...

Physically, Clausen is gifted. Remember, this is the same player Sports Illustrated called "the kid with the golden arm," when he was a junior in high school. He was one of the top recruits in the nation when he chose Notre Dame. One NFC college scouting director said he likes Clausen's arm better than that of Oklahoma's Sam Bradford, who is expected to be taken first overall. Why is there so much flux in Clausen's stock? "I don't think he is a no-brainer," one NFC general manager said. "He needs the right offense and the right coach. But if a team really wants a quarterback, they'll take him. There is enough to like." The Browns need a quarterback. But this is what new Browns President Mike Holmgren told Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer: "I wish I liked him more. You know that you have a type of player that you like? It's not scientific. People like him a lot. He'll go high. But it would be hard for me (to take him)." If you are from the nitpick school of scouting, you will ding him for having small hands (9 inches) and short arms (30 3/4 inches). He has had his toe surgically repaired since the season ended and still is not 100 percent, but he looked fine in a workout for NFL teams on April 9. Intangibles can be more important to quarterbacks than physical tools. While Clausen was very productive at Notre Dame, he wasn't the program savior he was reputed to be. TOP RATED NFL DRAFT SCOUT WIDE RECEIVERS: Brandon LaFell, LSU, 6-3, 211, 2-3: LaFell was rated the top receiver by some scouts going into the 2009 season, but his stock has been negatively affected by injuries and an inability to impress pro scouts. He rejected an invitation to the Senior Bowl because he didn't want to aggravate a knee injury he had suffered in the Capital One Bowl. Then he was unimpressive at the combine, where his best 40-yard time was 4.58 seconds. But before all of that, he certainly had the appearance and some of the productivity of a big pro wide receiver prospect. There always have been concerns about his lack of quickness and difficulty in separating from defenders consistently, but he often compensated with long arms and strong hands. Armanti Edwards [Round 3, 25 (89)] Quarterback/ Wide Receiver, Appalachian State...

He is a superior athlete with explosive speed (4.43) and very good running instincts and vision. Very elusive and agile, Edwards routinely makes the first man miss. He is great in the open field, has good (but untested) hands and is a tough competitor with a desire to improve. We all remember Edwards slashing through a stunned Michigan defense during Appalachian State's 2007 opening season upset over the Wolverines. His performance (227 yards passing, 62 rushing and 4 TDs) that day catapulted him to the national stage. For the year, he completed 148 out of 221 passes for 1,948 yards and a 17-7 TD-INT ratio. He also rushed for 1,588 yards on 237 carriers (6.7 ypc) and 21 TDs. Edwards did not let up the following season as he once again was one of the most explosive weapons in all of college football; he had 941 yards on the ground (193 carries with 4.9 ypc), 11 scores, and threw for 2,902 yards (64.1 completition percentage) with 30 TDs and only nine interceptions.

Eric Norwood [Round 4, 26 (124)] Line Backer, South Carolina...

The Steelers on Thursday wrapped up this week's visits from NFL Draft prospects when they met with South Carolina linebacker Eric Norwood and Wake Forest defensive back Brandon Ghee. The 6-foot-1, 245-pound Norwood is South Carolina's all-time leader in sacks (29). Ghee, 6-foot, 192 pounds, turned in the fastest 40-yard dash time (4.45 seconds) for cornerbacks at February's NFL Combine. The Steelers have met with 13 out-of-area prospects. Greg Hardy [Round 6, 6 (175)] Defensive End, Ole Miss...

PRO DAY RESULTS: Ole Miss began the 2009 season ranked in the top 10 and harboring thoughts of a national championship. The Rebels rose as high as No. 4 in the polls, before everything came crashing down with a 16-10 loss to South Carolina in their third game. Despite a somewhat disappointing year in which Ole Miss finished 9-4 and ranked outside the top 15 in both polls, there are still several talented Rebels from that team generating interest in this year's draft class. They were on display at Mississippi's pro day on Tuesday. All 32 teams had representatives in attendance to watch a total of 22 players work out indoors on FieldTurf. DE Greg Hardy (6-foot-4, 277 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.80 and 4.79 seconds, had a 35-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot broad jump, a 4.64-second short shuttle, a 7.13-second three-cone drill and did position drills. Hardy is still working his way back from the wrist injury that ended his 2009 season in November, and did not bench press for that reason. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

David Gettis [Round 6, 29 (198)] Wide Receiver, Baylor...

Baylor student-athletes will work out for NFL coaches and front office personnel at the 2010 NFL Scouting Combine Feb. 24 to March 2 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. All-America center J.D. Walton and receiver David Gettis were invited by the National Football League to participate in the annual event preceding the NFL Draft in April. The combine allows executives, coaches, player personnel staff and medical personnel from all 32 teams to evaluate the nation's top collegiate football players eligible for the upcoming draft. The six-day job interview involves a series of tests, drills and interviews with more than 600 NFL personnel. Gettis, a former track athlete, earned honorable mention All-Big 12 status as a senior in 2009. He participated in the 2010 Texas vs. the Nation Challenge all-star game earlier this month in El Paso. He totaled 52 receptions, 675 yards and three touchdowns as a senior. His 4.3 catches-per-game ranked 13th in the Big 12. Gettis caught six passes of 40 or more yards this season and his 13.0 average-per-reception led the team. He was named Baylor's Co-Offensive MVP. - Baylor football
