So we release maake and damione, take no one in the draft, and get player in fa that hasn't played in two years..i really have no idea what the coaches are thinking on this one, can someone please explain this..i cant believe this is probably what we're going to have to go into next year with at DT

Looks like its going to be Louis Leonard/ Tank Tyler/H. Thomas and Nick Hayden.

Leonard played in 2 games last year..Hayden only recorded stats in 6 games.. Hollis Thomas is 36 and Tyler played in about half the games last season. Ed johnson our fa has played in 5 games total the last 2 years

Hollis Thomas is not even on our roster.

The rotation will be Leonard, Tyler, E. Johnson, and Irvin at DT.

Brown, Johnson, Brayton, and a vet FA to be named later at DE.....given his history with Meeks, I think Raheem Brock will be added at some point before TC.

hollis isn't a panther...at least not now. he's not under contract.

the FO said that DT wasn't a big need in the draft and i guess they still don't feel like it is.

right now at DT we have leonard, tank, irvin, ed johnson, hayden, and landri.

hopefully we will be getting more in here. i don't think that it is going to be a problem. lots of teams switching to a 3-4 lose some UTs because they don't quite fit anymore.

LE: Tyler Brayton - Charles Johnson

DLT: Louis Leonard - Ed Johnson

DRT: Tank Tyler - Corvey Irvin

RE: Everette Brown - Greg Hardy (DP)

looks intriguing. I'm actually really interested to see what they start doing with the line now that they don't have peppers to lean on.

The Giants have four DTs and six DEs on their roster, and just added one more of each. They'll be getting rid of a couple, and not necessarily the senior citizens. And there are other teams in that same situation.

This draft was really heavy in DTs and DEs. Not all will contribute this year, but a ton of teams will have to make room for their rookies. We should be able to find some talent with a year or two left.

if it makes you feel better just think that tank tyler was our 5th round pick from the draft because thats what we gave up to get him. also we have irvin that was a 3rd last year

    • New season new teams. Everyone we face has improved their team as well. There's now a full season of tape on Canales's offense and Bryce running it. When they win 7 games I will become a believer.
    • I mean I think its a bit disingenuous to call basically anyone here a casual fan. I don't think the casual fan creates a profile then logs into it, in the offseason, to comments on mundane offseason topics.. I dont think anyone on here would be considered a casual fan. That said, I get your point. My POV is from the player. They sign this contract, move their family because of these contracts. When Clowney came him, we basically had a coming home party for him.  So yeah, I get why we did it and I know that ultimately the owner doesnt 'save' money, but I can feel for the human side of the player, which is why I want them to get all they can while they can.
    • My guess is the NBA will either send Flagg back “home” to the Northeast in Brooklyn or Washington, or San Antonio so that they can keep building around Wemby. If I was a betting man I would take the odds on the Spurs. This definitely feels like a #1 pick that they will rig.
