Hurney: Keeping Kalil a priority with obstacles

Well they are acting like the Panthers are only team been affect by this rule. It's not just the panthers. It's the whole league. So unless the owner and the NFLPA gets a deal before next year. Then all teams in the league will lose alot of top players because of this rule. But the sad thing is Marty Hurney saw this coming last year and never bother trying to sign both Khail and Willaims to a contract extension before the rule kicked in thhis year. So pretty much Hurney is at fault here. Hurney is starting to prove is no longer able to perform his duties as GM. This is the reason he is most likly gone after this season along with Fox.:cuss::leaving:

Nice job making an ignorant post. We need more guys like you here. Someone get on this guys contract extension! Too bad Zod is about as good as Hurney is at GM...

Wouldn't the win-loss record have something to do with whether these two are retained or not?

They'd use the tag on Kalil in a heartbeat(can they under the new rules?) and Williams loves it here, I highly doubt he'd go look elsewhere if we were the ones offering him the biggest contract.

not worried, front office knows what they're doing.

Im pretty sure they have two types of tags.

A franchise tag and a transition tag or something like that. I think they are basically the same.

Kalil, Williams, and Thomas Davis all need to be extended. With all the saving we did this year I don't see why we wouldn't be able to.

Exactly. I would be fu*king disgusted if they don't keep all 3.

me 2, they sittin on all this money.jerry's wallet is super fat

Because they can't. No player is going to accept the 30% basic pay increase for a long term contract. It means they get good money up front and then left in a very insecure situation after that.

It's not as simple as splashing the cash, because this uncapped year actually prevent them from doing that. As odd as that sounds...

Extensions seem to be the one thing that is greatly restricted in the uncapped year.

    • What I love and hate about this team is it’s more filled with potential breakout players than ever before. JT, XL, Coker, Smith-Wade, Ikem, Trevin… and even Bryce are all guys I could legitimately see taking the next step. But the problem with having so many of those guys is that team success somewhat relies on them taking that step, and some are bound not to. That being said, I’m cautiously optimistic given our softer schedule, the way the offense clicked late last year, and the direction we finally have at GM, coach, and QB. Could see us as a sneaky playoff team.
    • Me, signing up for FanDuel Network, and then canceling FanDuel Network:
    • Smith-Wade for me. He has the path to some decent hefty snaps in Evero’s scheme. He held his own last year and improved as he continued to get snaps— If he makes some strides, could be a very capable nickel.  I agree with Sanders. Bryce had some trust in him that final Falcons game post crazy head-stand.  Bryce looked for him a lot that final game and made some critical catches to get us the W. Seems he’s put in major work so I’m hopeful about him.  Wallace will have an offseason under his belt. I like him a lot, was higher graded than most remember in his draft (I.e Brugler had him LB3/70 overall) but he isn’t as cerebral of an LB as we’re used to. I think he could thrive if we get D captain/film-junky type next to him— because right now that’s Jewell.  Still a bit cautious but love the talent. Rozeboom may snag some playing time from him if he’s still working out the kinks.
