Beason, Gross make A.P. All Pro

Gross has been very solid this season. I guess I just can't see how he's one of the two best tackles in the league.

He's not but there has to be some reason a pair of non all pro backs ran all over the league this year. It can't be because the backs are talanted or the rest of the line is very good, so it must be because of the left tackle that's being talked about because he's in a contract year...

If we make some cuts ("dead weight" like lucas, kemo, hackett) or restructure (delhomme) we can keep both pep and gross. bank on it.

Did you really just say Kemo is dead weight? Seriously? Did you forget about the 300 yards rushing the Giants hung on us when Kemo was out?

They don't have to cut "dead weight" to keep anyone they feel is worth the money. Marty is one of the best at manipulating the books to keep them complient.

The question is do you pay Gross left tackle money? IMO it would not be wise, they'd be better off drafting a rook and moving Wharton back out or Otah over.

Gross just isn't worth the price he's going to demand.

It has to be his whole body of work and his pass protection in particular. If you look at Williams stats you will see that he is picking up the least amount of yards running over the left side compared to the right or the middle. He is averaging over a yard more per rush running behind Otah versus Gross. So it clearly not his ability as a run blocker.

Well he isn't a great pass blocker either, and he plays for a run oriented team so go figure LOL...

My point is he didn't deserve it, he's an average left tackle on a very good line. The voters don't look at film they look at stats, and read headlines.

    • Jack Roslovic: Only 2 other UFA, right-handed centers age 28 or under had more points (39) than him- Sam Bennett (51) and Pius Suter (46). There were 4 other centers age 33 and older who scored more: Gireaux (37), Marchand (37), Tavares (34), Granlund (33).  Unless the Canes go old, if they let Jack walk, they won't get a center who scored more.  Thoughts?
    • nope     This is why we come back every year.  Hope springs eternal
    • It's important to differentiate criticism and hate. I can't speak for that individual you quoted. But most people who have been critical of the Tepper's have been so because both of them have made it a point to put themselves front and center and in the middle of team operations and we have been largely horrific more often than not as a result. If people are making derogatory remarks about her that should be met with an appropriate response but if people are being defensive just because she's being criticized all I can say is people should get used to it. Both her and David would have been getting absolutely skewered by the media and the fans if this were a big market franchise. The Lakers are finally being sold off after years and years of public criticism of Jeannie Buss and even though I'm the furthest you could go from being a Lakers fan just about anyone you could meet who is familiar with the NBA would say the criticism was certainly valid.
