There are a lot of gay players in the league. They won't let their teammates know because thats like openly asking to lose millions of dollars, and I don't think anyone is stupid enough to do that. Unfortunately, the MOST narrowminded are in the locker room. That's why I don't think it would work. Or, like I said, it would take someone with the patience of Job to deal with all the crap he'd get. And it wouldn't be just the players. What trainer would want to help him stretch in front of the other guys? What company would want him as a spokesman? What charity would ask for him to come speak (even kids would heckle him...I've seen kids heckle Steve Smith). First time that player sat out because of an injury, it would be relentless. This is the reality they would face, not "oh gosh what does it matter we're all human beings." The player would have to face the world as "the gay Panther" every single day and not be bothered by it.
