If we could get a 2nd rounder for Steve Smith, would you take it?

At 31 we have seen the PEAK of SS, I love the guy but he has two top tier years max left in him then he will drop off quick like Torry Holt did.... I would rather get something for the guy then to let top talent walk away without any compensation (Peppers). It is obvious this team is going towards a youth movement phase.

so you would be saying he's worth the same to you as Armanti Edwards is right now?

The only reason they went "young" is because the players behind the old guys could potentially play at the same level..you really can't say that about any of our guys behind Steve Smith..none of them are ready..

I'm saying his worth right now as a 31 y.o. WR is at best a 2nd round pick.... Boldin was traded for a 3rd and 5th....

We tried this on the Jaguars forum a while back and came to the conclusion that the least amount of value we would have accepted, as fans, for MJD would be a first and third round pick this season, and a first and fourth the following season. Then again, it is a lot easier to replace a running back in the NFL then it is a top flight wide receiver. That is more than any team will ever offer for one player in today's NFL, but if you are going to get rid of the face of your franchise, the price needs to be steep.
