USAToday Review of 2007 Draft

Recommended Posts

Damn Vikings selected Sidney Rice right before our pick for Jarrett...

Uh, Jarrett was taken after Rice.

I would rate it at a B+ at least. A if Jarrett turns into a decent #2 which I think he will.

Gregory is easily one of the best college scouting directors in the league. I would be fine if he takes over when Hurney bolts.

That's what he stated, Jarrett was taken after Rice.

The fact that the guy referred to Kalil as a "starter" shows he isn't familiar with our team or that Ryan's has become an elite center. Even asshats such as Jamie Duke's who referred to Ryan Kalil as "all pro caliber". And Jamie is annoying but he knows his O linemen.

If you get two pro bowl players in a draft it should be at least B+ even if we did miss on a second rounder. And I feel confident Kalil will be All pro before its over.

we had two pro ball players with Kalil and Beason. Dante Rosario was a great addition being a #2 te and getting 2-300 yards a year isnt bad. Charles Johnson has been great as a back up and looks to shine this year with Peppers gone. Tim Shaw didn't work out well for us but has done great on special teams with the bears getting a team record 30 special team tackles this season. Ryne Robinson had potential but injuries ended the guys carreer. CJ Wilson has never been great but has stuck around. Dwayne Jarrett was suposed to be Muhammeds replacement but being a run oriented team with a horrible QB Dwayne has never been able to get much playing time as our #3 or #4 reciever. In the last game of the season he showed promise and has always been able to make cartches every time the ball has been thrown to him. This year will be the year he will be able to prove himself. The panthers drafted 3 receivers in the draft which shows how much the coaching staff believes in him but the coaching staff has been wrong about players see Matt Moore.

What year are we in right now? Who cares about 2007!! It's been 3 years. We as fans need to stop analyzing what we did in the past and focus on the present. Whether the team made the right or wrong choice makes no difference at this point. I am excited for THIS year and put the past, in the past. I feel we are going to be better than many think.

I hear you, but the point was that prior drafts can't be properly evaluated for at least 3 years hence the reference to 2007. And since we are counting on the draft to gather the large majority of our talent, what we did 3 years ago makes all the difference in how we will perform this year. The past and how well we picked and coached our players will determine this year's success. In addition to the drafted guys, Matt Moore for example was a UDFA in 2007. Think that has any bearing on this year??

just sayin........................
