Panthers LB Thomas Davis tears another ACL

if Davis injured himself, and the Panthers took back their tender(even though they aren't allowed to) this board would be lit up with posters angry about how the Panthers screwed over Davis and how Jerry was an asshole etc

Are there not injury clauses in tender contracts? Just legitimately curious there.

Once he signs his tender he gets paid no matter what. Plus if he thought he wasn't healing properly he would have signed his tender earlier. There is no reason he would hurt himself and jeopardize his future when he was going to get paid anyway. The whole idea is ridiculous.

Saints fan here,

I, and most Saints fans, are sorry to hear about the injury to Davis. We all see him as a real good dude and a good player. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope for him to continue his career next season.

We actually have a thread on it over in our area

You guys are welcome to chime in over there on that thread or any other for that matter

And as long as we don't say anything bad about the Saints we won't be banned. Sorry some of us have already been there and found that SR doesn't tolerate any real discussion by rival fans or anything that isn't pro-saints. It is the most biased board I have ever visited. No thanks.

No I won't disagree with you there. It can be way too strict at times, but as a Saints' fan, it's the best place to find news and conversation with fellow Saints fans. There are plenty of other teams fans on there, but if it isn't your cup of tea, then that's cool.

On another note, I'm not saying this to start anything, but if you guys don't re-sign David for next year, I can definitely see us going after him. We love bringing in players from other teams with big injuries. The few recently off the top of my head that I can think of are

Vilma-Jets, knee, 2008

Shockey-Giants leg, 2008

Dan Morgan-Panthers, no explination there

Brees-Chargers, shoulder 2006

Jimmy Wilkerson-Bucs, ACL, 2010

Clint Ingram-Jags, knee, 2010

We were even supposed to be bringing in Kemoeatu for a visit this year

Just looked at your board and saw that you guys were high on him coming out of college. However, he has stated he wants to retire as a Panther. Nonetheless every man has a price right?

On another note I would be careful mentioning Dan's name on this board he sometimes lurks in the shadows.

I definitely don't have any hard feelings towards him. What I meant by no explination needed there was that I know you guys are obviously very fimiliar with his situation. When he came to us we had were hoping to put him next to Vilma and watch them two blow things up, but unfortunately it never worked out that way. I have nothing but best wishes for Dan, as do most Saints fans,

    • Dabo said the timeline is about  3-5 years.  IMO, he has been pretty spot on about college football overall…..and IMO I think he was speaking not off a gut but just the general inside consensus.  the end game is for the top of college football to essentially have their own league/division and that doesn’t just mean Clemson leaves the ACC….it means UGA, Michigan, etc all leave their conference too.
    • So you are a Carolina fan, and the administration knows this, if Carolina goes to the SEC they will be below Vandy and you and I both know I’m not kidding, they have not been the greatest and basketball lately either.  It would be an absolute disaster for Carolina to go to the SEC.  Look at SC, they may finally have something this year but they left the ACC in what?  The 80’s?  What have they done in the SEC in 40 years?  That will be any ACC school that goes to the SEC or the Big 10 and they know it.  Especially Carolina, they have nothing to offer the SEC, we already know that Clemson and FSU has been denied by the board, they couldn’t go if they wanted to…where would they go?
    • This wasn't unknown to the public. It was covered previous to the trade and going back to June in the media. So the Packers would know.  It probably just isnt considered significant.   https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46097336/cowboys-appear-open-micah-parsons-trade-offers
