Older women and Twilight

So at work today I learned that one of my coworkers, a 42 year old woman, took a vacation day. Upon further investigation (waiting 5 seconds while her neighbor told me where she was) I learned that she was out of work so she could go watch the new Twilight movie at the Epicenter in Charlotte.

My question is... is this weird? I really found it to be almost disturbing.

most of the women on my facebook page have albums of going to see it last night. They took pics outside wearing their Twilight shirts buying tix, pics of them getting their stub, pics of them finding a seat while gawking at all the other soccer moms wearing their Twilight shirts and stuff. It's insane.

I guess women are more into romance than men, even as they get older. I admittedly know very little about Twilight, but it seems to be a "teen love fest". I just figured older people grew out of that. But I know some older people who like Harry Potter. I guess it's the same.

That's the thing. As women become bored with married life (or bored with pursuing the married life), I think they long for the lust and romance of their youth.

I think that's why Twilight is a hit with women of all ages. It appeals predominantly to young women, but also to women who want to remember what that youthful love was like. Vampires just so happen to be the vehicle Meyer uses to deliver her romance. You're kidding yourself if you think these women are into vampires.

    • He does have speed. 21+ top end speed is very fast for a linebacker and his 3 cone drill time is considered excellent, close to elite.
    • This is awesome because you get to see the perspectives of the scouts--get a glimpse behind the curtain. I wonder whose doing this was; I am curious as to why David Tepper allowed it. Maybe it was his wife. Maybe Dan.  At least from my perspective--and probably one shared by other fans--when David Tepper bought the team, he closed everything off too much to the fans, and really didn't give an explanation. Things were obviously done because he (and/or some others wanted to do it). Remember when they used the guise of construction and all that to keep fans from seeing the team during practice? I know there are laws and safety and all that, but Tepper could've made it happen. And, of course, we all know that they essentially fired Jeremy from his independent contractor gig as a photojournalist. I never understood why they'd do that (and the negative reverberations obviously affected Jeremy and ultimately this place--i.e, us fans). The pie was (and is) certainly big enough to throw some scraps to the independents. I realize that you can't necessarily open the floodgates, but a few different perspectives from indy journalists whether in word or photos is a good thing in my mind.  So, it's great to see different perspectives. I will say this however: it is not without risk, as you know there will be some buster who will be calling the scouts out if the players flop. I think we should all keep in mind that the buck stops with the GM. It's nice to have one, however, that is so convicted in his people and process--and ultimately success, that he's willing to give fans access to this type of information. Pass this on to Tepper.
    • I hope he ends up being our best ever at the position. Ryan Kalil left big shoes behind that we haven't quite been able to fill since.
