Questions about internet speed...

Ok i recently upgraded to 3.0mbs internet and yet on youtube i can't watch a lot of low quality videos. HD is out the question.

360p will load pretty quickly and then it just stops and quits playing. 240p is the only quality level that loads quickly.

Oddly enough IE is the best browser. Maybe it's flash or something?

I figure it should be better than this.

run a ping test to youtube's website (it's the address listed in the command) with this command

ping 74.125.95.93 -l 600 -n 100

if the results are over 120 on avg, then that's the issue with it.... you can also check and perform a tracert test to the same ip above and see if you have any TO's....

also check and make sure your speeds are what your paying for, an ISP is allowed to give you anywhere from 70 % of what you pay for or above.

I currently have the DSL Ultra package from AT&T and I will agree with Saltman that it does indeed suck. The reason I don't have the "Xtreme" version that you currently have with the 3.0mbps is because when I did have that service, the internet would keep cutting off after as little as 5 minutes of uptime. The red light on the crappy modem they give you would come on and it would never reconnect unless I unplugged the modem and waited for 5 more minutes.

Even on this DSL Ultra bullpoo the internet will cut off after so long and I'm not sure if there is another option for where I live. I also found that the speed I currently get which is listed as 1.5mbps is rarely if ever actually the speed I receive. This makes porn surfing more of a hassle. All in all, AT&T blows.
