nobody here is as hard as Snake_fist. He values life and shoots first and asks questions later...

Oh and I guess you would just fend him off by crawling in the corner saying please don't hurt me. Yea sound like a great idea.... guess you would just let him do whatever he wants to your wife/girlfriend or your kids. Yea your right just bend over and hope for the best.

Lol I agree, although I would be just as bad, if the robber tried to threaten my family or try to break in I would torture him and send the tapes to wherever his family live lol.

Criminals deserve to die.

Friends had been at a bar. He left the bar and went to the house where there was a latenight party. He came through the back door of a house where there this party going on. Dude in a mask comes to the back door and says MF this, MF that...my brother pushes him back thinking it was a joke. Dude then puts a revolver to his dome and tells him to get on the Flo. Brother sees it isnt a joke, gets on the floor with the other people.

The perps pistol whip one or two folks, take all their wallets/purses, fire two shots through the door when they leave....

Brother is lucky he is alive, from A: Walking in the backdoor surprising them. and B: not having a wallet to give them. He did have $20 in his pocket. He handed over.

Not sure if he was able to get the poo stains out of his pants.

Has your brother figured out that it was probably an inside job?

Umm, not yet.

And look, to the Dirty Harry types... you sound real tough. But would you really be sitting in a den at a party with your pistol on your hip?

No? Then do you think you'd have time to get your pistol from where its stored, while two thugs have guns pointed at 9 of your friends.

Again, my family has guns, has been around guns our whole lives. My brother said himself, that if he would have had a gun, he wouldnt have thought about using it unless the thugs started shooting people.

These guys had no reservations about pulling the trigger. If someone had pulled a gun on them, they'd be deader than disco right now, instead of down a few bucks.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for defending yourself, but I don't think guns are the answer. SFGF seems to think that anyone who doesn't have a gun is a pussapoo who will cower in the corner and allow themselves to be killed. BS, buddy. BS. By my reckoning, it's the opposite. The guys who don't know how to protect themselves any other way than to buy a gun are the ones who probably freeze up when they've got some heat in their face. And it's that kind of cowardice that I think is causing this to be a gun culture. People who are scared buy guns (probably expains all the panicked false alarm accidental shootings).

Right now I have enough training that if I felt my life was threatened, I can defend myself and others cooly and confidently without the aid of a firearm.

If I don't feel my life is threatened, hell. They can have my money. I never carry more than $100 in my wallet anyway. My phone is insured against theft, and my credit cards are reimbursible for purchases made on a stolen card. So let's do a little math. How many times does someone get robbed at gunpoint in their life? (I'm not worried about strongarm, and if you've got a knife I can make you stab yourself with it without even leaving a fingerprint) Even the most pessimistic person would say maybe two. So I'm out $200 bucks. As opposed to buying a gun, ammo, and spending enough time at the range to feel confident with it. I'm out probably over $2,000.

Wake up people. Guns are the answer. They're totems that give you a false boost in confidence and a feeling of invincibility that will probably get you killed.

No shortage of guns...but its not as simple as you make it sound. My brother said he wouldnt have used one, unless the guys started killing people. He just didnt have a chance. Its easy to say youd use one, but if they get the drop on you, its not easy. Still these guys were brazen to go into a house with that many people there.

You'd definitely have to catch both of them not paying attention or their backs turned. Not necessarily worth the risk depending on how threatening they were.

One of my friends had someone get the drop on him. Two dudes while he was delivering pizza. He seemed to think having a gun would have magically changed the situation. Or maybe he was just talking tough.

I'm all for gun rights and sending predators like these to dirt naps, but if you can't get the upper hand, its better to leave that gun holstered. Or wherever you keep it.

But yeah, your brother is probably right. They probably hit fast and were gone quick. Not much of an opening if there's two of them and they're on their guard.

They're thinking about you pulling a gun as hard as you are thinking about pulling it.

I'm glad my friend didn't have a gun when he was robbed. poo could have been bad for him if he'd fuged up.

God yall all make me laugh. All you do is doge the facts and put words in my mouth. No where did I ever say I would go in guns a blazing or that I was "Hard". The only thing I said was I would not wast anytime trying to negotiate with an intruder. If he has a weapon he will be dead. I would rather the criminal die instead of me or my family. The fact is would you rater be a the mercy of the criminal or the criminal at your mercy. Most on here seem to think it will be alright as long as you dont piss him off and let him have what he wants thats far from the truth. What do you think would be worse. Dealing with killing someone or dealing with the fact that one of your family members was raped or killed and the guy got away to do it to someone else. It happens all the time.

and your right guns are not gonna just change the whole situation. Different situations call for different approaches. Still I would like to have all my options open when put in a life or death situation.
