My Fred

Our Fred just died. I feel like I've lost a member of the family. We're all crying. He's better off now and not in any pain. He had several tumors. We've been expecting it, but it still hurts.

Fred was old when we found him whining under one of my aunt's bushes. He was a hunting dog that got lost. He was with us for 12 years.

The best picture I have is one of him and chico that we had made.

Sorry to hear about your lose Sunbunny. 12 years is a pretty good long life for a beagle, especially if he wasn't a pup to start with. Best to let them go sometimes. We as owners at times tend to drag out a pets life not because we care about the pet but because WE don't want to deal with the loss. A large portion of the time though, it is usually the right thing to just let them go to the "Great Cat Chasing Field" in the sky.

If you are interested in getting another beagle, a friend of mine has one that he would probably give away for free. It has issues though, everytime it hears someone whistle it shits, a lot too. God forbid you are inside with him and Andy Griffith comes on.

Sorry, Sunbunny. Wish I had more than words to offer.

I've been working temporarily for a vet right up the street. We had a dog that could barely breathe or move and I knew he was going to be put down that night so I sat with him and petted him for a good half an hour. In those moments you wonder why we are given 80 years on this planet while dogs and other loyal animals only get 10-15. Then you realize that it's people like you who make those 10-15 years so much better than what any other animal is getting. You lost a good friend, SB, but you made his life SO much better than it would have been.

    • It's not sustainable,  although he deserve credit for the win also, as he made clutch plays as he does with every win we have.
    • As much as I would love to sit here and bash on Young.  I can't.   He is absolutely a part of this team winning.  He is the cool hand leading the offense along with the hammer, Rico.  He's making plays on 3rd and 4th downs, that are absolutely helping thus team win.  Is Bryce playing as well as we'd like? Nope. Although he had only 1 week off from a high ankle sprain.   No question he was 100% in the Greenbay game.  I'm not even sure where the team would find a clear upgrade over Byrce.  He is a leader.  In the 4th quarter, he has ice in his veins.  He is a part of why our team is enjoyable to watch again.  Without him, we wouldn't be winning.    Anyways.  Y'all enjoy yet another thread designed to tear down the man.
    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
