965241.jpgNice looking stadium for FCS program. I can't imagine Charlotte being FCS more than 4 years.

I posted in CFB forum as well. It's a great day to be a 49er. Some friends of mine were some of the forefathers of this. This achievement is the perfect example of the internet making a difference. Had it not been for Ninernation.net, this never would have been organized and executed like it had. The administration ignored calls for football for years, but NinerNation.net allowed the masses a place to gather and put a plan into action until it was too large to ignore.

Great for the school and the athletic department as a whole.

It is incredibly difficult recruiting top talent to play in the A-10.

If you are talking football, there is no A10 football conference so you are correct, it is very difficult to recruit top talent to a league that doesn't exist.

If you are talking basketball, Xavier and Dayton both have no problems drawing in top 100 (and even top 50 on occasion) talent.

The A10 gets more top 150 players in basketball than any non-BCS conference. It's hard to get 'top' talent, but I wouldn't go as far as to say incredibly difficult.

Good lord they are going to suck for a long long time. A new team in the vaunted football state of NC? ugh

We'll see. It all depends on how the program is run. I think Charlotte is a great location for FCS level football. I wouldn't be surprised to see Charlotte excel at that level. If we move up to FBS, then yes, we'll probably be a pretty poor program at that level for quite a few years.

    • I’m really having a hard time understanding how this actually went down. -Renfrow expected to make roster as 2nd/3rd string. -Panthers cut Renfrow; Keep Brycen Tremayne, and add UDFA receiver (Dalevon Campbell) to active roster.  -Canales/Morgan say it’s totally up to Hunter whether he wants to come back or not, they would love to have him.    -Renfrow not signed to PS -Panthers trade Adam Thielen -Hunter Renfrow signed to active roster with a raise after an injury to Coker nobody heard about and is likely to start.    Our WR room is now: -Xavier Legette (2024 1st round pick) -Tet McMillan (2025 1st round pick) -Hunter Renfrow (1 year out of the league) -David Moore (Canales’ friend? A guy way past his prime) -Jimmy Horn (Likely a Shi Smith reprint, but has potential 2025 6th round pick, weighs 174 lbs) -Brycen Tremayne (2023 UDFA who was on Washington’s PS for 2 years and caught 1 pass for -2 yards and averaged 300 yards per year at Stanford) -Dalevon Campbell (2025 UDFA had a good preseason but had 1463 yards and 3 TDs over 5 college seasons at 3 different schools). What the hell is going on?
    • Not uncommon for week 1 games. Especially against good defenses. It’s why I prefer my team play these small schools week 1 if they are going to play them. Gives the offense time to get calibrated.
