Davis Encouraged by Progress.

Davis said that his recent experience with rehabbing the injury "is the kind of experience that you don't want," but it has helped him get off to a faster start this time around.

Among the countless things he does daily – from push-ups to sit-ups, from ice baths to hot tubs – Davis brought his bike to training camp and begins each day with a five-mile ride up and down Church Street beginning in front of the Wofford campus.

"It's pretty early. There aren't really that many people up," Davis said of what has become his 6:30 a.m. routine. "I ride around Spartanburg, going down about two-and-a-half miles and then back two-and-a-half miles.

"I always pass Krispy Kreme. I'm not messing with Krispy Kreme though; I'm trying to keep my body where it needs to be."

Davis isn't doing it alone. He credits the Panthers' athletic trainers for playing a pivotal role in his efforts, and he has an extensive support network, headed by his wife of two-and-a-half-years, Kelly.

"The person that has helped me get through it more so than anybody has got to be my wife," Davis said. "She's been there for me from Day One, with both surgeries.

"When I was on crutches and couldn't walk and needed somebody to take care of me, she was there for me."

If he's already further along then he was last time, he could hit the 6 month mark. Welker recovered in 7 months and is practicing fully now.

seen this as well and he tore his mcl as well. another thing i noticed was that he wore a brace while running and cutting but im not sure how much that would effect the ligaments. a lot of players after a major knee surgry do wear braces tho.

Coming back late this year versus shutting it down and going to IR - barring yet another injury, how would his decision impact his next contract?

If his goal is to remain a Panther - which makes the most sense for him?

Broke my heart when he re-injured the knee....Worst injury news for this team in a long time. I like the fact that he hasn't given up for this year and maybe he will continue his career here. The dude was evolving into an elite LB right along side Beason. That's something that doesn't happen very often and hopefully it can still be something to look forward to. I wish him the best.

    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
