Mr. Scot

I'd like to see what Connor looks like at SLB with Andersen at WLB and Beason in the middle.

I thought about that, but I get the impression the team doesn't like the idea of playing Connor at either of the outside spots.

(no, I can't really back that up; it's just my read)

I'm sorry but if Fox keeps Beason at Will i'm not going to be happy.. He is the best MLB in the f**king league. He is the anchor of this defense. Why would we move him to a different position so we can have an average guy(Connor) take his place?

I'd take BEason at Middle, JAmes anderson at Weakside and Williams at Strong side... Putting him outside is dumb as f**k.

Scheme. Meeks' defense tends to work better with the most athletic guy being on the weakside.

That's the "why", but I'm still not convinced it's the best way to go.

Oh i know Scot. I just think that he is so fuging great at playing the middle and don't want to see him convert to Weakside.. even if it is just for one year. If it aint broke dont fix it.. THats how i feel anyways...

It's worth noting that Ron Meeks defense has had its better moments when they were using a converted college safety on the weakside rather than a true linebacker.

(Cato June with the Colts, Thomas Davis with the Panthers)

Don't take that as a suggestion that we should convert one of our safeties mind you. But it does make me wonder if, say, a James Anderson wouldn't be better suited for that role than a Jon Beason might be.

Obviously, nobody would argue that Anderson is as good a linebacker as Beason, but might he be better suited for that particular role? I think it's possible.

Norwood SLB, Beason MLB, Anderson WLB?

This.

Beason just didnt look right tonight on the outside. Move him back to the middle and let's give Williams a chance to start. Anderson is more than capable of playing the Will. Let Connor be the backup MLB, and give Beason back his position! I wish Davis wouldnt have gotten hurt, cause we need him bad

    • One of his handful of good games... If he can ever get to a consistently high level, then he'd change minds. As it is... Meh.
    • People are also jumping to the conclusion that Darnold would have figured it out here. I very much disagree. He needed a place where he could be a backup for a while with no pressure. So all the pining over him was pointless. Highly unlikely he would do anything but continue to fail had he stayed here. The one that got away was Baker. He was not as bad as he seemed here. He was always a good player but we were a two bit, middle of the road college program grasping at straws. Had we invested the time in Baker that we have done for Bryce, history would have been quite a bit different. To what end, who knows? Doesn't matter. There are a million hindsight stories that are very unkind to this franchise. There is no one that is more significant than the other. It is what it is.
    • He’s a serviceable starter for us that doesn’t cost much. The reason he doesn’t cost much is that he has flaws, one of which appears to be catching the ball.  It would be good to have a better corner opposite JC but he’s not at the top of the list when it comes to people we need to upgrade.
