the comments by Pep and i'm surprised that a lot of you are angry and want him gone.. from what everyone was saying, i expected his comments to be very abrasive.. but he couldn't have been more 'on the fence'..

im still confident that we will either come out with him resigned or come away with a good deal.. no way we let him walk or anything.. we shud come out the other end smelling like roses..

being a NC homer, i hope Pep stays.. i have given it a lot of thought and cooled of as much as i could, and i hope Pep and Jake stay..

Jake too huh. I'm just a fan. not like what I say matters to this organization. Is it cleveland that like that? With the owner listening to what all the fans say on the radio, and basically doing what he is told.

Anyway. I'd like to see open competition at QB. Delhomme, Moore, any FA pickup worth a damn.

I would not let what Pep feels like to dictate what to do with him. Best case for the Panthers is to franchise him and trade him for a first and a few more picks. Jared Allen went for a 1st a two 3rds.

Or pull the Shaun Alexander on him and franchise him for the next two years (year to year trying to prove himself) finally work a deal and cut him when he is 31 YEARS OLD.

This is the peak of his value...take full advantage of this. Either make him prove his motivation year to year or sign and trade. We have no pass rush with him so at least we could fill a few other holes and at least free up money to actually get someone who shows up consistently.

I think when everyone cools down and the witch hunt is over we will look back at 2008 as a great year (12-4). The bottom line is the Panthers didn't show up to play saturday. The coaching staff didn't do their job either. Everyone picked the Panthers to blow out the Cardinals. The Cardinals showed up to kick our arse and they did. Jake and Pep will be there again next year.

it just absolutely BAFFLES me that this is STILL BEING DISCUSSED!! Julius Peppers IS the Carolina Panthers..if U r a TRUE Panthers fan , U MUST realize how valueable he is 2 the defense, as well as this team. The man had more sacks and forced fumbles (hence the pro bowl appearance) this year than in a while. Teams STILL prepare themselves for him in their game plans against us. If he has dropped his performance in the past few years..it's attributed 2 the fact that teams PLAN for him..as they do Steve Smith..as they do DeAngelo Williams.....Julius Peppers is just as important...Do U watch Pepp on the field? Do U see what he does? The Houston Texans (Dom Capers) went and signed a DE and gave him the same number ..trying 2 "franchise" him as a Julius Peppers. That man simply puts F E A R in other opponents :

MOST FEARED DEFENSIVE PLAYER : Julius Peppers ..from an S.I poll of NFL players.

So the fact that so called PANTHER FANS are here discussing him leaving and how they wouldn't mind .....KILLS ME!

    • I'll be honest.  I'm not sure I want to see any those guys returning right now given what others are presently doing.... minus Coker.  Hubbard returning likely messes the run game up (I mean, it's going to come down regardless but he still), Tremble and Evans actually are doing well, Corbett seems to make us worse up front, and the D has made some strides.  I'd like to just keep that whole lot on the shelf this week.
    • I don't think people know that Icky is still only 25 years old. Panthers signed UDFAs older this year and drafted DJ Johnson. Heres a fact, a deep fact.... Its easier(much) to find a good-great QB than good-great LT. Another fact there's only 12-15 true LTs and the others are larping as LT.  SO....(I'm not a fan btw)......you nearly must resign him at all cost even with him being around the 12th best at times. Its the hardest spot to fill and he's still awful young with 4 years as a pro. Carolina already got 4 years of "cheap" service as well, that's invested time and effort.  The fan-side of me hopes he signs some top 5 at best top 3 big money deal. Just the cap keeps growing and LTs, young LT with experience are rrrrrrare and unique. Tag him if needed and tag him again, then trade him. I think he enjoys being/living in NC.  I hope he's stays on a team friendly deal, but those are soooo rare these days.  Only two options- pay him whatever, even if it's top $$$$$(uggggghhhh..) or tag him for 2027 and keep trying to pay. Worst outcome is trading him for couple 1s, 3s, and 5th maybe a player too.
    • I always loved DJ Moore.  I don't see him wanting to comeback here.  He seems to be tired of inconsistent QB play and you finally see that bubbling over in Chicago.  or maybe he just doesn't like the people.  He actually seemed fine with Fields.....and lobbied for them not to draft Caleb.  So maybe it's just a Caleb issue (and I think Caleb might have tons of baggage/issues that rub folks wrong)
