We all know panthers fans are a fickle group. A few losses an you can't give your ticket away.

So what happens if the panthers have a losing season as a result if the veteran purging, and then there is a lockout the following season?

I don't think that is something that us recovered from quickly as far as fan support. Could set the panthers back to pre-superbowl days.

Will the casual fan come back right away?

Mr.Richardson is playing with a loaded deck, and he showed me what he's got when he did the purge thingy! Thus you are right...it might very well backfire like one of my SBD's! You have a lot of unique contractual possibilities dangling this year!

I don't see how anything good can come out of it - especially in a market as fickle as Charlotte. However, sadly, I would bet money that one is coming.

People forget that Richardson walked away from an NFL career over a measly $250. If he was willing to quit football over that, than I can only imagine what he is willing to do over the millions/billions involved today.

I can only guess he's willing to sacrifice short term losses for long term gains. Like you have questioned though, there is no guarantee Charlotte would ever recover.

True- but if Charlotte is competitive this year and they should be based on the schedule, then they are in great shape moving forward regardless of the lockout situation.

If the owners and players work it out, Carolina is in great shape because they don't have any really bad contracts. If the owners and players don't work it out, no NFL for a year and the league starts back up the next season with a much smaller salary cap. In that case, Carolina, being well positioned financially, is in great shape as they will be one of the few teams with any salary cap space.

Also, in the chance that Carolina stinks it up for the next few years, any new CBA will include a cap on rookie pay and Carolina will be poised to rebuild with higher draft picks that don't make a ton of money. The fans may turn on them in the short-term, but I don't think it will hurt the franchise long-term if the team starts winning again.

Hey Zod, if a lockout ensues and there is no football next year, you might want to lock the Huddle out too.

God only knows what types of threads would be popping up in here mid-October of 2011 if there was no football. :eek:

      Whether it's consistently seeing the field his arm talent his mechanics it all points to a limited player that needs virtually everything to go right in order to possibly begin to overachieve or play at an elite level. Some people are willing to accept average at best but that's not what we're here for. This is a business.

      Last year folks were gaslighting that Bryce was the best deep passer in the NFL despite not ever making plays downfield  NOW, he has A+++++++ arm strength one notch down from Brett Favre S Tier arm strength?  And people complain people are Bryce “haters” for arguing against all this type wildness lol.

      I looked at him and his arm and his footwork, before he was drafted.  It was clear then it is clear now. He doesn’t have an arm that can flick a ball down the field using only the arm.  I don’t see his arm as good by NFL standards. I see it as something he must overcome. So I quibble with the characterization.  What I completely agree with is if he does not do his mechanics and footwork right his velocity and accuracy suffers.  If he is diligent and adheres to proper execution, yeah he can make do with his arm.  That sort of is what it is at this point.  Another aspect of it is he needs to use maximum effort to go downfield or to really drive a ball with any kind of heat. That (max effort) hinders accuracy. I have talked about this before.  He is at a disadvantage having to max exert compared to a guy that can use a very repeatable easier throwing motion.  Up to him if he can proof the pudding and hang with the big dogs.
