In the absence of clear statements, you have to read between the lines. And what lives there is the possibility that a trade could be a potential end to this contract dance that has gone on now for nearly two years.

The Panthers offered Peppers a contract that would make him the highest-paid defensive player in the league, but no contract has been signed. It's not that he has rejected the team's advances, but he has tried to keep the issue at arm's length for some time.

I didn't see all the interviews with him, but have read that he says it's not about the money - it's about doing what is best for him and the team doing the best for the team. If he has indeed already been offered a contract making him the highest paid defensive player in the league - then yes, it's not about the money at all. It's about him wanting to be somewhere else. Best to go ahead and let him. We've seen what happens when you've got a player who'd rather be somewhere else. It affects team chemistry to where it hurts the team. I'd hate to see him go, but if that's what he truly wants - then that needs to happen.

I wonder if he would be more receptive to staying if some coaching changes were made.

I honestly think thats one of the hangups.

He doesn't like some part of the scheme.

How much of that is Fox and how much is the Turdo.

What I really do believe is Peppers doesn't want the team left high and dry, and realizes if he does leave he can help us ease the hurt with a pile of draft picks.

Hey Gantt, if your going to assume who's staying and who's going, its some far less talented players on the team I'll rather assume are leaving as suppose to one of our best players.

Your comprehension skills suck almost as much as my spelling.

the idea that Pep is so selfless that he doesnt want to "cripple" us is very odd to me. i dont know if i buy it.

i think he wants to play somewhere else and he isnt the type of guy to come out and say it to the media

i wonder where he wants to play? big market maybe? or better weather possibly? who knows. IMO Pep has proven to be a weird dude

He wants to be on a team with a chance and all this shows me that he does not have the confidence this team can as long as the scheme remains as it does. I wonder also how much is Fox and How much is Trgo.

If it's a choice between him and the turd say flush the turd.

peppers hasn't been holding this team back. if anything it has been the scheme that has been holding the team back.

i hope fox/hurney realizes who is more valuable to the team.

I wonder like others if the fact that we have a crappy scheme and rely too much on Peppers to get pressure (meaning he is doubled all the time) wears on him. If he played in an aggressive scheme and we had another bookend rusher like him, he wouldn't have to carry the load and we would be vastly improved. I could see him wanting to go to Houston or Phoeniz who both would be instantly better and would utilize him much better than we have. And he spends lots of time there already.

    • Yeah. Probably will be close. I am not rooting for anyone don’t really care that much.   Same for the AFC game, don’t really care. Except it is Sean Payton, I always like it when he loses.  But it’s New England, I can’t root for them. It’s going to be 23 degrees at kickoff in Denver, wind will 12-15mph, dropping to 13 degrees by 7pm with snow predicted to start before halftime.
    • Most people will agree with this in principle. But it's situational and also depends on the results you're getting. We were middle of the league in sacks given up. Had the 27th passing offense. And if a few instances that went our way turned out differently we very likely could have been staring at another 5 win season. For the highest salary cap percentage to the OL in the entire league. While we had basically nothing at linebacker and not much at all consistent pass rush to speak of as we were leaning on two rookies. And despite all that our defense which has been on a lopsided end of investment compared to the offense managed to go from league worst and giving up historic single season points in 2024 to middle of the league in 2025 which is quite impressive all things considered. So yes the investment in the OL versus the results certainly matters or at least to should to anyone that would like to continue to improve and also maybe finally win another playoff game.
    • Still think that if Carson Beck is there on Day 3 you have to take him. QB depth in drafts has been atrocious as of late but what he is good at translates very well to what the Panthers need a QB to do.
