what if we had a double shotgun with clausen and matt moore back there where they could snap it to either and then they could just bomb it to smitty? it could also work with a bomb to lafell. or send armanti edwards on a wide receiver reverse. i know im such a dork! but it could work!! it would def keep these defenses on their toes. just sayin. thoughts?

I don't understand the purpose of having two pure qb's in a shotgun. Neither would be a threat to run really and the blitzing defense would be able to see which one had the ball from the snap. One or the other with Armanti back there, or a backfield of Stewart, Deangelo, and Armanti would be ridiculous.

I'm not trying to mean but how exactly would that work? Essentially you are just removing a player that could actually do something for one of the QB's that can't block. If Matt Moore gets the snap then what is Jimmy supposed to do? This also removes the ability to run because the defense knows you are going to pass and you are a receiver down. This idea confuses me.

It actually sounds so crazy it might work!! I think with Clausens accuracy and Moore's rocket arm for the deep ball we could really keep teams off balance. Any time we wanna throw it short we hike it to Clausen and anytime we wanna throw a deep bomb to Smitty we hike it to Matty. Although sometimes we would have to change it up to keep the defense from figuring it out (kind of like a fake out). The only thing I would change is I would send Goodson long a lot since he's so fast and awesome!!! I bet if we did that Goodson could have at least 25 TD's this year and everyone would want him on their fantasy team!!

No it won't work, putting your only 2 QB's that will be active in at the same time, is just crazy! Teams will continue to blanket Smitty, Lafell can't catch a screen pass much less a "bomb" and AE is scared to death, after being decleated on that hit in the Ravens game. I really hope you are joking about this lame idea!?

:out:

    • By all indications, the surgery was "minor." I know with all surgeries and especially back surgery there can be complications, but I think the whole time Tremble did this with the expectation he would be able to be back for Week 1 It sounds like he will be ready to start back in team drills next week. He's a veteran who knows the system so I'm sure that helps. I still can't imagine he will play a normal workload early on though
    • Maybe. He was pretty good in college before a bad injury. He had a good preseason last year as a UDFA in Washington and was on their practice squad all year so they obviously saw something worth developing. He signed a futures deal with the Panthers earlier this year, and everything about him has been increasingly positive. Tremayne has gotten a decent amount of time with the ones, and a lot with the twos for someone that doesn't have a chance. He's the only other 6'4" plus WR on the team, plays ST, and is a more natural backup to the X receiver position than David Moore. That was my thinking behind it. But he may well end up as one of the last roster cuts. If so, I do hope they can bring him back to the PS. But I personally think there's a good chance he could be claimed given his ST ability and what hes shown at WR.
    • That was my thought originally, but so many of the beat writers have mentioned keeping 7 WRs in conversations that I went with that, at least for the purposes of this projection. But you're right that historically defensive guys who were standouts at ST have tradionally gotten those last spots
