Roster Predicition / Roster cuts

Jarrett Had a TD pass had Moore thrown a good ball. Atleast he came close to being open in the endzone.

Close would matter if the football was either a) a horse shoe, B) a gernade, or c) a golf ball.

Since it is a football and none of those things, who cares?

Jarrett ran down the field, Moore threw him the ball, Jarrett could not catch up to the pass/Moore overthrew him. So because of this sequence of events Jarrett is suddenly legitimate?

It is sad that an over thrown pass is a sign that Jarrett is making progress to some of you nut-huggers.

Drop Davis off of the 53 man roster and add Corey Irvin. 3rd round pick from last year and the kid has looked good when he plays. He will make the team.

Also, Jarrett is not going to make it. No contribution on offense and no contribution on ST's, means that he walks.

Write it down.

I could see Irvin staying, but not at the cost of Davis - they seem to be really working to have Bernadeau be the backup center, so I'm thinking Davis stays. As far as Jarrett goes, I don't see Fox heading into the season with Smith, WW (who should be a big ST guy), and a bunch of rookies. The wild card with Jarrett IMO would be if they dropped him for a vet that was cut before the start of the season.

I think that Fox has more confidence in the rookies than Jarrett.

You have a guy in Lafell that they obviously like, it is begining to look like he is going to be the #2. They are invested in AE and seem to like him, and honestly, he seems to be a decent WR. Not spectacular yet, but he can catch. Gettis has huge potential, extremely rare size/speed combo. They are not going to risk him getting taken away on the practice squad.

So that gives you:

Smith

Lafell

AE

Gettis

Wright is a ST ace and showed the ability to play WR at a pretty good level. Unless his injury is season ending, he probably stays.

Now you are at 5 WR's.

Moore, Guy, and Jarrett. Moore probably won't make the team because of too many draft picks in the mix. Guy you can stash on the PS. Jarrett still seems to have problems with the playbook, although he is much better in that aspect. Has no seperation ability and plays no ST's.

Jarrett is gone.

I think Jarrett should be gone...just don't know if he will be gone. I was at the game last night and paid a lot of attention to the wide receivers. Jarrett looked very slow, and I hate it because I pull for the guys that are slow but have good hands and run good routes (like me in high school). But he just couldn't get open.

Gettis, AE, and LaFell all looked better in that respect.

Agreed here. I don't think Jarrett not playing ST is that big of a deal in this situation because of all the backup defenders that can and do - it's not often that 3 backup DEs have the speed to play ST.

The point of that is what does he contribute? Nothing.

So you are going to keep a guy that does nothing, just because you don't want to go with your 3 drafted WR's? Don't think so, dude is gone.

Yup, just like Kevin Dyson or Rod Gardner. Not saying he starts or is even active, but I think he'll make the 53.

I agree with everything you've said- I just don't see him being cut in the next 2 weeks.

No offense, but I stopped reading right here.

I have to agree though, I think Jarrett will be the surprise cut. I was rooting for Jarrett, but it's clear besides Smith that all we have right now is #3 and #4 receivers and it will stay that way until the start of the season.

Smith

Lafell

Wright

Gettis

Edwards

(Possibly Guy)

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
