NY Giants fans talking up the Panthers??

I don't know how many of you go to the other team fan pages, but I try to do it at least once each game week. I have to say it was really surprising to see their comments. Sure they have some fans like we do about how the "Sky is falling" or "Super Bowl Bound". However for the most part the NY fans seem to be more confident about the Panthers than most on this site. They seem to be really worried about the Panthers coming in and beating them. Best part was a comment from one fan

John Fox seems to know how to play Coughlin teams
Maybe it is true maybe not, but they seem to be scared of the Fox.

Just one of the pages if anyone cares:

That was actually a good to read. Of course it seems like most are picking the Giants (as they should as Giant fans) but they don't sound to convinced its going to happen!

I read a few more of their treads and was surprised to see you could actually talk about YOUR opinion of the team and have a civil conversation with no "you fail" pictures posted everywhere...what is that, I don't even

I wonder why there are no threads here proclaiming the strengths of our opponent, whether it be out of respect, or just objective observations? Oh wait...it's the Giants.

But still, all you will see here are threads doubting our own players before props or respect are given for an opponents' abilities. Oh wait...it's teh huddle!!11!!

We have threads doubting our own players and team....now you expect threads giving props and respect to the other team? WTF

If you want threads about the abilities of other teams, feel free to visit their boards.

I forgot to hit the sarcasm button. I've browsed some other teams boards, and they will spout their own doom and gloom, a lot of it worse than what you see here.

I'm not looking for threads breaking down all the good things about team ABC - let's be clear on that. OP said that the NYG board seemed more confident in our team than we might be. You don't see that here, just my opinion though.

Yeah it's weird.

I know we destroyed them last year but still, it's odd not seeing many trash talk. I've cycled through a couple of their forums, the majority are respectful and have known quite a bit about Panther football.

For the most part, Giants fans are fans of the game itself and their football knowledge extends well beyond their own team. Of course there are always exceptions but for the most part I usually enjoy talking/arguing football with Giants fans.

Me too lately. For the most part, they'll give you an unbiased debate. The exact opposites of most Cowboy fans that just throw out how many rings they've won when they find themselves in a losing argument.

Makes more sense with the sarcasm button.....Now back to what is important....how we will christen NY Stadium with another beatdown.

    • I see they blamed Slavin for the goal like I did.
    • See this is the problem, you say "can't get off the line quick" and "can't separate quick" but in reality it's "he can get off the line better and create more separation" which are two completely different things. If he couldn't get off the line or separate, he wouldn't have put up the numbers he did and end up a Top 10 pick. But he can get better, and maybe more accurately, consistent with them both, and that will take his game to the next level.  These are things that are also much easier to improve once you get to the NFL than things like being a poor route runner or having bad hands, two of his strengths. Thinking he can't get open in the short passing game also shows you haven't watched enough tape on him, as he was used in that role so much in college with little issue getting open and making plays. And him not using his physicality as much isn't even something that hurts his game because he's so much more agile than a player of his size should be, which he used to his advantage.  Instead of throwing passes where he'd go up and box out a player like a TE or Mike Evans does, they use his athleticism and put the ball in places that only he can get to it, and he usually does (and yes, he'll still be able to do that against NFL DB's with his catch radius). But now that he's in the NFL, I'd like to see him get stronger and add that to his game because it also will help him take his game to another level. As I've said before, if he doesn't improve on those things at all, I think he's a Top 25 WR in this league, he's already that good.  But I think he'll improve on those things and be a perennial Top 10 WR and in his prime is considered and perform like Top 5 guy in some years. My expectations for him this year at 800 yards and 8 TDs (although I do think he'll get to 10 TDs) with a real chance at getting to 1,000.  But those expectations are because I think Thielen will lead the team in yards with close to 1k and XL/Coker each end up in the 500-600 range themselves, just too many mouths to feed this year for a rookie to dominate yardage, especially if we're running the ball well again. But if Thielen can't stay healthy or puts up sub 750 yards, then yea, my expectations for T-Mac likely shift to getting to 1k as a rookie.
    • Svech only 1 goal behind the guy they've pretty much already given the Conn Smythe to...
