Charles Godfrey

should be benched. Going into his 3rd year.....still plays the exact same way he did his rookie year. Martin is solid. Just like he looked his rookie year. Pugh needs a shot.

No need to respond about his play after his injury last year b/c all he did was fool people with FFs. His coverge was horrible last year. His open field tackling was horrible last year......just like year one and just like today.

While I agree Godfrey does have trouble with coverage I would say he has improved since his rookie year. Not saying he is the long term answer at safety but to say he hasn't improved is kind of ridiculous, he did make good plays on the ball and did wrap up solidly on some tackles. The first touchdown was Marshall's fault.

Sorry but I disagree, Marshall was playing the Zone on that play and it was Godfrey's duty to cover his back.

Godfrey and his ineptitude caused that TD.

Exactly. Marshall was covering the flat area. No doubt, Marshall sucked donkey balls today as well, but Godfrey basically gave up two TDs by not being where he was supposed to be over the top.

Fair enough, I agree in saying that Godfrey is way overrated. Just a question but was Godfrey the SS or the FS today. I thought Martin, despite making less plays had a better day. Its usually a bad sign if a corner or safety is making a lot of tackles haha.

what has he improved on? He has been constiatntly horrible in his coverage asisgnments and when asked to make an open field tackle. He is a saftey isn't he????

People love turnovers. FF's, wide open picks b/c of throws off target, picks off other players breaking up passes, etc. is what he really has given us through his career. Over the past 2 seasons and 1 game there simply isn't a worse starting S in the NFL. And just like when Fox refused to replace him with Martin, Pugh will sit the bench unless a S gets hurt.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
