With the eight pick in the 2011 Lockout Draft, the Carolina Panthers select...

I have a long history of supporting Floyd. He was the best WR on Notre Dame last year when he was healthy. That team had Kyle Rudolph who will be a first round pass catching tight end and Golden Tate. He obviously has worked with Clausen and if you watched either of the first two Notre Dame games this season he has become an absolute stud at blocking.

Not sure what happened to him this offseason but imagine our team with a second stud WR who can stretch the field as well as block... two 1200 yard rushers!

Yeah, um, we can still talk about the draft if we want to. This is the forum for it.

Not sure we are sold at taking a WR with our first pick right now, but I'd rate them Green, then Jones, then Floyd and Baldwin. Other than that, I like Alan Bailey--DL, Miami, Patrick Peterson--CB, LSU, Prince Amukamara--CB, Nebraska, Rahim Moore--S, UCLA, and maybe a DE like Sam Acho--Texas, since you can never have too many pass rushers.

Let's go hypothetical. Let's say Fox tanks, and hits the road. Cowher gets the job, and I'm quite sure he'd bring a 3-4 with him. You need a 3-4 defensive tackle...and that sounds a lot like Marvin Austin to me.

Then again, I am a huge Tar Heel homer. Not to be mistaken.

    • I presented that scenario because this is a home game and we seemed to have improved in some capacity in that area as of recently. The problem with the possibility of sweeping the Bucs is this team has had a habit of quickly falling victim to momentum shifts. The Bucs are coming off a bitter loss the same as the Panthers but the Bucs have a much better proven track record this time of year and they have performed when the pressure is on unlike our Panthers. We have a shot against the Seahawks here in BOA but that is a matchup that could quickly get out of hand because they are a well coached team and that goes back to the momentum shifts I mentioned. I just don't see this team beating the Bucs in their stadium to close the season. Tall order to say the least.
    • I’d give it another year for Sanders and Evans, I don’t much care what you do with Tremble’s spot. Let him have another year or maybe replace him. Haven’t looked at his contract so that may be the determining factor.
    • Following the crazy up down pattern we finish 9-8 with an improbable sweep of TB, and lay an egg in the home playoff game.  I don’t know if I can sign on to sweeping TB but I suppose it’s possible, they aren’t really that good this year.    ps I can buy beating TB Sunday and losing to Seattle.  Then it just gets to can you fluke one game. Any given Sunday. So we’ll see.
