DeAngelo Wiliams to Pats? (Just an idea)

With money being what it is right now

you meant to say with money being it is what it is....a Panthers joke concerning John Fox anyways:

This is a typical Madden deal. Yes it sounds good for both teams considering we might not be able or willing to sign Deangelo after next season, and the Pats would be pretty unstoppable with Deangelo, but..... JR must be saving all this money for some reason. Resigning Beason, Kalil, and Williams would be a priority. Plus I don't know if Stewart has the durability to be a number one back. Sorry but I doubt this is going to happen.

Oh and thank you for being well researched (knowing how Sutton and Goodson are) and for not trolling, I grow quite weary of Giants fans as of late.

This regime has consistently said that they are committed to keeping players that they draft. Deangelo Williams is NOT tradeable for 2 reasons:

A - He's our best player...no question.

B - He's a RB and the return will not equal what Deangelo is worth to us.

So here is the scenario...

We run him hard this season and get what we can out of him (saving Stewart just in case he is the back of the future) and we offer him what JR thinks is a fair deal. If he takes it then great he is a Panther for life. If he doesn't then he walks and we have JStew backing him up.

The CBA IMO is essentially what is keeping DWill from getting a new contract. They are willing to risk him hitting the market (or having to franchise him) when the alternative is giving him a fat new contract only to have a lockout in 2011.

How much fun would it be to watch him on the Pats offense? It would be like the 90's Cowboys all over again except with more weapons to go around on offense and better players all around. Tom Brady, Randy Moss, DeAngelo Williams, Wes Welker, younglings Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, Brandon Tate, and Taylor Price in combination with a great head coach comparable to Jimmy Johnson, and a good, developing rest of the team. Hate or no hate, Panthers fans, this team would be fun to watch at least for the sake of greatness. Not trying to pour onto this place my Patriots fandom or take away from the Carolina Panthers team spirt; just a random outsiders observations.

Its a shame you guys drafted Maroney instead

I like the combination of fans in this forum. There are a ton of great people here. I like this place! Carolina is actually a really cool place and somewhere I'd love to live with my family. I've always kind of liked the Panthers a little bit and I respect the franchise tremendously.

As far as this whole thread idea goes, what about this trade proposal? How would YOU fans react to this?

Patriots trade: Julian Edelman, 2011 (CAR) 2nd round pick, 2011 (DEN) 4th round pick, 2012 conditional 4th round pick.

Carolina Panthers trade: DeAngelo Williams (and deal gets signed one way or another)

I read all the "staying" posts, and hope with all my might they are right...but then there is that nagging agent to player signal with "show me the money" syndrome and boy, watch the rumours flow then...and what if we continue to show low stats...DW is not going to be a Steve Smith IMHO! I just hope I am wrong:confused:

actually Maroney was better in 06-07

Deangelo Williams career stats vs. Maroney

Williams: 3912 yards 30 touchdowns 5.1 avg and 4 fumbles

Maroney: 2430 yards 21 touchdowns 4.2 avg and 4 fumbles

In 06-07 Maroney had 745 yards and Deangelo had 501 (as a backup)

I'm sorry but GTFO who gives a poo if you have less than 250 more yards as a rookie. Maroney sucks I bet even the Pats fan will admit that.

Oh and did I forget to mention Maroney was running behind the play of Tom Brady, Wes Welker, and Randy Moss for most of those years. We had uhh Steve Smith and Jake Delhomme for our passing attack.

Sounds good, but like I said its a Madden deal. JR is never going to do that. But if we got that I'd be pretty happy assuming we were going to let Deangelo walk at the end of this season.
