Don't be an irresponsible pet owner

So these neighbors of ours had this Boxer, it was a very skittish dog and would run & hide when approached but it was also very unpredictable sometimes. One of our other neighbors told us about this dog snarling at him and it chased him into his house.

These owners of the boxer always let this dog run around loose. They have a nice fenced in yard but yet they still let it run. They've been told repeatedly by the police to keep the dog in their own yard. There is not any kind of law here that says you cant let your dog run so all they can do is tell them to keep it in their yard unless the dog bites or mauls someone.

I was just telling someone the other day about how I thought this dog was going to get hit. This morning on our way to school I saw the dog dead on the side of the road, I stopped to make sure it was dead or not.

I went to their house to let them know what happened & they wouldn't answer the door.

People please be responsible with your animals. I live in a rural area & I see dead pets on the road every day. Just this week I've already seen 5 dead.

If you don't think any harm will come to your pet if you let it run loose you are stupid.

I have had a hard time wrapping my head around why they let it run loose when they had a nice fence to keep it in.

I have nearly hit this dog twice myself.

The fugged up thing is they will probably go get another dog and do the same thing.

You should report their asses to animal control

Dogs big enough to maul a small child need to be in fences...period.

Have to have AC remove a pitbull from my yard because some dumb-A was letting it just run around. At that time, my boy was 2 and my daughter 6. I went the Animal Control route, but if the moron had gotten his dog out and then done it again...I would've killed it with no feelings of remorse. Sorry. And we have a daschund.

Our feelings on this are mutual & we have a dachshund too.

Animal control & the police were notified by several different people on multiple occasions yet nothing was ever done other than them telling them to keep the dog in their own yard.

my oldest got out last week because of my mistake. the garage door didn't go down cuz i put the recycle bin in the way. he saw before i did and darted. i chased him all over the neighborhood for a good 20 minutes praying he wouldn't go into the main road.

i got them both some new toys last night after reading those 10 commandments of pets.

Sadly, I'm sure you're right. I remember a friend of mine played in this softball league years ago. The umpire brought his little dog with him to the games and let him run around. Errant throw from the third baseman nails the dog in the head...dead instantly. The stupid umpire goes out and buys the exact same kind of dog and names it the same thing. Soon thereafter it gets hit by a car during a game. Last I heard he did it all over again.

It's a double edged sword. Walking dogs at the shelter you think "why can't this dog get a home?" Then you hear stories and wonder if half of them aren't better off being put down. I once was walking into the shelter on a hot summer day and I heard this whining. This idiot had left his dog in his car, and the dog couldn't move because it had a leash on and was tangled in the emergency brake. This is 30 feet from the front door of the Humane Society! He had just got two puppies from us and he was in there with the other one, waiting in line to talk to someone. If I hadn't have walked by the other dog would have probably been dead by the time he went back to his car.

The jackass across the road is the same way. Dogs kept on chains, then they get loose and get hit. His sorry ass won't even bury them. Chris placed one of the hit dogs on the guys porch, but I think we ended up burying it. It's his cat that keeps getting pregnant and having kittens at our house. My mom ends up feeding the cats, and we end up rescuing kittens.
