Pat Y nails it on head about Moore

"Moore actually has become David Carr, circa 2007, and minus the glove. In other words, it’s to a point where the Panthers just can’t start Moore again. The only humane thing to do for Moore and his teammates is to go ahead and start rookie Jimmy Clausen at quarterback immediately."

I definitely agree with this. Moore is lost out there and running scared. He's lost confidence, swagger, and doesn't have the talent to make up for these things.

Pretty much. Putting Moore in there next week is the equivalent of letting Delhomme start the second half of our Arizona playoff game.

After what just happened starting him next week won't exactly be "giving him another chance". It will be....ok Moore go choke again and hang yourself!

Then Fox and Hurney have another scapegoat.....wait a minute....oh f**k! Moore might start after all.

Yup, I think bad O-line play just ended his career. Matt's best asset coming into this season was his ability to stand in the pocket with poise and make good throws.

Then week one happened. He was pressured, he was sacked, he was abused, and he got hurt. Week two, I think he was scared. The Giants relentless pass rush got him nervous. Like Zod said, he wasn't making reads, looking off coverage, or going through his progression. He looked for his first man and tried to force it to him before he got hit. How many times did we see him scramble or bootleg? And more than once, I saw him take the snap and imediately start running backwards away from pursuit, instead of stepping up into the pocket.

Matt Moore is a scared QB right now. And I think the comparisons to David Carr are all too true. Carr was ruined by years of constant abuse. Moore was ruined by one bad week and an injury. Hopefully if he is pulled now, we can still save his career. If he stays in, this will only get worse.

Funny that he called matt Moore -David Carr. I think folks will see a better David Carr impression from Clausen than Moore. After all Clausen is the king of the dump passes and running at the first sign of pressure without looking down field.

With that said though, I think Clausen ought to get a shot. Lets see what he can do. Right now David Carr might be an upgrade to what Moore is doing.

And that my friends is truly sad!!

Somebody just explain why Moore tucked the ball at least twice on bootlegs and ran out of bounds 3 or so yards behind the line of scrimmage? Why not throw it away - you're clearly out of the pocket, but you decide to give up a sack by running out of bounds?

There was one time he finally threw the ball after stepping out of bounds - clearly scared to get hit.

He is broke. I never was a big Moore fan and thought he was overrated to start with, but hey - didn't he learn stuff from Romo before Dallas cut him, he must be the answer...

Start #2 the rest of the season barring injury. He is the best chance to win on the roster.

like the way people dump on clausen for "dumping down" to his rb's but aren't you suppose to take what the d gives and live to fight for another play than throw a int or fumble the ball looking for someone who isn't and probably will not get open? as long as we keep ourselves in 3rd and 6 or so we can dump down all day long and move the ball(just won't look pretty or exciting)

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
