Should We Trade Matt Moore to the Jaguars?

Mort reported that JAX is stuck with Garrard as the starter and backup Luke McCown went down for the season with torn ACL in the game yesterday. After Garrard's performance yesterday they've gotta be feeling a little antsy. I like Garrard but idk what's wrong with him this year.

That being said, Mort is saying that JAX is looking for a a QB to bring in. I know trades in the NFL are rare, and even more rare for us, but with how MM sounded after the job was given to Clausen, it may be best to let him move on. I'm not sure what we could get for him but just an idea.

Then again, they could just sign back Leftwich and make it super awkward down there lol.

I thought Leftwich is back with Pittsburgh.

But I doubt this happens, not only because trades are rare but that wouldn't be smart on our part. It would still be valuable to have Moore as our #2.

Yeah didn't see he just re-signed with them today, I just knew he had been released recently.

Yeah I don't think it's very likely at all, but wondered if anyone else thought about it.

Then we'd have to scramble for a backup quarterback. I don't think we'll get a lot for Moore even if a team wanted to overlook his two games this year. Crazier things have happened, though.

I'm not trying to go Madden or anything, like I said, just wondered if anyone else had gave it any thought. But you're right. I think Troy Smith has a small fan club on this board though, and I wouldn't mind picking him up.

Again, I don't see it happening, but I already suggested before the season started that everything that has happened to this point regarding the QB situation tells me that Moore never going to be 'the guy.' Regardless of how he performed this year, I think he would've gotten franchised if he 'over-performed' and we then would've traded him for whatever value we could get.

We signed him to a 1-year tender as insurance in case nothing else panned out. If they thought he was the future they would've made sure he was signed to a longer-term deal while it could still be agreed to on the cheap. No doubt whatever value he had has plummeted, but I think we could still get a low round pick for him, and may as well b/c we're not keeping him around after this year, and I think that was part of the plan all along.

    • Some people will shift the goal posts but he does still have to consistently help the team win, eventually. Not only help but be the reason. That's what franchise QB's do.
    • One of the Carolina Panthers' newest defenders thinks their pass rush can go from worst to first. ESPN's David Newton recently chatted with outside linebacker Pat Jones II, who signed with the Panthers as a free agent earlier this offseason. Jones comes over from an awfully impressive Minnesota Vikings defense—one that ranked first in takeaways (33), fourth in sacks (49) and second in QB pressure rate (44.4 percent) this past season. And despite a historically-bad campaign by Carolina's defense in 2024, the 26-year-old seems to believe his new unit can be similar—or even better—than his last. "I definitely think we could do something similar, if not better," Jones said, via Newton. "I've seen it before, so I know what it looks like. I look around the building and see we have exactly what it takes to do that." https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/05/24/panthers-pat-jones-vikings-espn/83840667007/?taid=683219b347846900018fa10a&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter     It's the offseason.  Let hope spring eternal. (actually, I think we are much closer than this board thinks)
    • 5 total TDs against the Falcons was pretty good efficiency and he showed that ability to go off scripts and get 2 of those TDs rushing.  How many times did he deliver big time throws against pressure.  I agree we need to see this offense operate at high efficiency which starts with Bryce. When he does I hope the goals posts won’t shift to some other stat like QB sneaks lol
