Did Jake at least give you hope?

I understand your feelings. I, too, was a Jake fan ... until he began averaging 7 turnovers a game.

Face it, Jake was always a reckless slinger of the ball and only Wesley Walls's, Smith's and Moose's talent saved him. But after Jake's arm got hurt, he was done. Both the Big Cat and Foxxy gave him the chance to come back but he did not have the physical talent anymore.

Cleveland made a bad decision - my guess is that he will never be any good for any NFL team again ... sad but we have to face the truth.

As for Panthers, expect for Clausen to make some 'rookie' mistakes, but he is a savvy guy and will learn from them and, if we have patience, we will be glad we got him.

Did he even throw to Walls?

Where in the post did it say anything about Clausen? I thought the post was asking about fans' feelings about Jake when he was a Panther.

What is it, every time a QB not named Clausen gets mentioned the Clausen apologists become defensive....

But Jake hasn't been right with his arm for 3 seasons and it became a hold your breath and hope for the best moment every time he dropped back to pass. The Arizona playoff game was the culmination and it couldn't have happened at a worse time, but it started long before that one game.

No, he didn't. There's a ton of ignorance on this board, isn't there?

I believe both Clausen and Pike have more potential to develop into a QB who can lead a fourth quarter comeback than Moore. It remains to be seen if either does, but I have a little spark of hope left for our season now that the QB has changed. Just a little one...

Yeah I didn't think he did - I remember people lamenting that Walls wasn't here for Delhomme to throw to (and how we never used the TE).

I have a lot more interest in this season now. I've had to watch poor QB play sink us for years. Finally there's light at the end of the tunnel. If Clausen can protect the ball and force teams to somewhat respect the pass we're laughing.

He gave me hope until 2008.

What is with all the "Trade Steve Smith (D-will, J-Stew, etc)" and "I miss Jake" threads? Seriously? Do you guys just lose all reason and judgment after going 0-2?

We could be a 4-12 team or a 11-5 team this year and everything inbetween. We have no idea, but don't lose your heads two games into the season.
