Panthers Would be 3-0 With Vick

Taking another hit of negative rep here but I was 100% on board with signing Vick when we could and we were his preferred destination. Here at the Huddle, I was basically called an idiot who knows nothing about football and that Vick sucks so I'm going to rub it in for the 2nd straight week. This will be my last time unless Vick leads Philly to a run in the playoffs and then I may post something like this again.

:ciappa:

I agree. I think we would be 3-0 with Vick. Vick's mobility would open things up for Smitty, Williams, Stewart, and Goodson. And the sad part about it, he once said if there was an NFL team he could choose to play for it would be the Carolina Panthers.

The overall talent level of this bargain basement team is extremely low. Adding Vick at QB wouldn't be enough to have a winning team. We would also need a proven #2 WR, and an elite pass rushing DT. That would probably be enough make us competitive, although add an elite DE and we might make the playoffs imo.

Panthers Would be 3-0 With Joe Flacco

Fixed it for ya

Had the Panthers selected Flacco 13th overall instead of Stewart who is contributing nothing currently to the Panthers they might well be 3-0. DWill, Goodson and Sutton is all a team needs in the back field to succeed.

Flacco had another outstanding day today: 22/32 for 262 yards and 3 TD passes.

Jimmy Clausen's pick could have been another wide receiver last April. The domino effect goes on and on.

Micheal Vick will never be a Panther, the owner of the Panthers doesn't like emplyees with sordid pasts, much less Felony convictions and jail time. It's his right, whether you like it or not, it is what it is.

I strongly disagree with that. We have more talent, at least on offense, than we did in 2005, when we went to the NFC championship game. We had one legitimate offensive weapon that year, while now we have a couple (Smith and the running backs). Our problem now is inexperience and poor execution.

On the defensive side of the ball, we definitely need to improve our dline.

Didn't Flacco have the worst qb rating going into week 3?

Like it has been mentioned before, our problems are more than just QB. Only a fool would think otherwise. The Eagles also have a good offensive scheme and dont have a coach like Fox and a dud OC in Davidson running a predictable and old fashioned offense. Also look at who the Eagles have been playing the past 2 weeks. The Lions??? The Jaguars??? Give me a break.

We had legit offensive weapons in the back field in Deshaun Foster and Stephen Davis.

Foster ran for 900 yards that year at a 4.3 YPC average.

We ran for over 200 yards when we crushed the Giants 23-0 in the Wild Card game and ran for over 100 yards the next week versus Chicago in round 2 of the playoffs.

The problem by the 2005 NFC Championship game everyone remembers from that year is injuries devestated the Panther back field. Jamal Robertson was our tailback that game. Of course the Hawks triple teamed Smitty that game, by the end we were done.

So I take it you'd rather not compare the talent level of our current defense with the 05' defense? Even though our success depends upon a strong defense? You only want to point out that we have Smith and the running backs? We had Smith and some good RBs in 2005. Oh well think whatever you like.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
