Panthers are 14-0

I'm taking this as a hate crime against D-Will

I'm not. This isn't anything to do with Williams. This is about spreading the work-load between two backs.

Splitting carries is just smart football, if both RBs can produce. The Panthers learned a one-back offense is a bad idea back when Foster took over for Davis.

Williams needs more carries. Splitting hurts us. Different backs do different based on the opponent. Fox doesn't go w/ the hot RB. Typically, Williams has success against a greater number of defenses...

that's a problem we are going to have to address at some point in the future, IMO d-will needs to touch the ball some how atleast 20 times a game, the only problem is that stweart needs to probably touch the ball close to that also be effective. the only way i see that happening is if you use stewart like an h back but i not sure if he can block well enough or run routes good enough even though he does seem to have good hands

I remember the very same thing with Foster and DWill back when Dwill was a rookie. . or perhaps the following year?. . .Yeah I remember my friend and I cheering when Foster would get his 17th carry (it was 17 for Foster I think). We would just stand around saying "W" or "excuse me sir, dont worry, . . W" or perhaps even "Pardon me my fine fellow, you seem to be rooting for Tampa when in fact this WILL be a W for us".

the fun stopped when we lost of course, because stats. . . NEVER TELL THE WHOLE FUGGIN STORY.

I agree they are. You gotta know which horse to ride harder and at different points in a game. Fox just has a script that is predetermined it seems.

That's a very true statement you can't predict who's going to do what but after you get a touchdown from a Rb like last week I would say stick with the hot hand.

But Fox is going to get critizm no matter what he does until we WIN.

If Stewart has 14 carries or more, Williams likely has 20+(if both are playing). 34+ carries usually is a winning formula. There could be many ways this happens.

no.

from the original thread...

that's the interesting part...

in only 4 of those 14 games did williams have more attempts than stewart.

4 of them had the carries split 50/50 (within 1 attempt of each other). stewart's stats were equal to or better than williams's in 3 of these 4.

3 of them stewart had more attempts than williams

3 of them williams never step foot on the field.

bottom line, stewart is not the type of back you can just sprinkle into an offense and expect positive results on a consistent basis. he needs more touches in order to be effective. williams doesn't.

the panthers are now 6-16, when he doesn't get 14+ attempts.

    • Would absolutely love to have him. I dont think he would require more than a 5th rounder. The biggest thing with his contract is the amount of guaranteed money. As long as they can work out and scenario where the Panthers aren't on the hook for a lot of that, I think it's a no-brainer. The Panthers can come up with $20M at the drop of a hat with restructuring Moton's contract, so there definitely isn't an issue from a money perspective. Jaycee paired with Ramsey along with Mike Jack would give us one of the best CB groups in the league. The one caveat I see is that safety still remains our biggest current weakness. We need a starting caliber S more than CB, simply put. But adding someone like Ramsey would be amazing as long as the compensation made sense. Ramsey could also play for FS snaps also. I also dont understand this nonsense about being seasons away. We have a QB on a rookie deal who was playing at an elite level to end last season. Within reason, now is absolutely the time to make moves like trading for Ramsey.
    • He'd be a huge upgrade for this year, but we're still not going to be contenders with him and I'd rather keep the cap space to roll into next season to spend on a younger player who can be an impact starter for us for the next 3-5 years while we're hoping to contend.
    • Because playoff hockey and regular season hockey aren’t the same thing.  It’s a combination of the game intensity being dialed up with loose officiating.
