Do whats right....trade Steve(n) Smith...

Awesomeness!!

The one thing I hate about sports is this "team first" mentality crap. A GM can cut a dude that has been with the team for 10 years if he gets hurt, and he did whats best for the team, but a FA (Pep for example) chooses to GTFO of a sinking ship, and he is a trader smh...

Smitty has been here a while, and imo, is a hall of famer. The best Carolina Panther ever, played with passion every single game, and never bitched or moaned (at least not in public). Sure, he has a big ass mouth, but what WR in 2010 doesn't? He has done everything we could have asked of him, and more. I want to see him win a ring, because nobody deserves it more...but thats not happening here. I heard the Packers made an offer...please, if a contender wants him, and they are giving us good value, make the deal. Its only fair to him.

the Packers did not make an offer on Smith, lol. Where do people get this poo? I mean, did someone really claim that happened? No offense intended.

Packers need a RB something fierce.

Smith shouldn't go anywhere, and we have no idea if he wants to.

YOu idiots missed my point. For once, the FO should put the player first, and try to do whats best for him. I bet if Smitty came out today and demanded a trade all of you would cry and bitch and moan about it, and call him a trader, but as soon as the FO cuts somebody, they did it for the team....

All I'm saying is give the guy a chance to win...

I don't like that "trade him to a team where he can win a ring" stuff. what if he's sent to a team that ends up like us? we did go from winning the NFC south to finishing the next 8-8 and missing the playoffs, and now this disaster of a season. the only thing that would accomplish is setting our team back years.

did anyone expect the Chiefs to play the way they're playing this season after being awful last season? the Dolphins went from winning one game to winning the AFC East and making the playoffs. the Packers were awful in Rodgers first season too.

you don't trade star players unless you have someone proven and waiting on the bench ready to start, which we obviously don't at wide receiver.

No, we understand completely what you're saying. But cutting Smith would make this horrible team even worse. What fan of this team would want that?

Every team would love to have him. With our incredibly young team I wouldn't be surprised if he is the leader of this team in the locker room. You can't trade that anymore than you can a corner stone. He is the foundation of this team who is under contract and has a reducing salary mind you. He is here for good. I hope he wins a ring

    • It is a tough decision.  There is another factor.  Is he in game shape?  A tired Hunt is not better than an "in-shape" Corbett.  When coming off an injury, it is natural to want to protect the injured area, even if it is completely healed.  This can cause you to contort your body for no reason, lose fundamentals, and it could lead to other injuries.  For example, I had a knee in high school that required getting taped.  That made me aware of the knee (not used to tape on my knee) and I pulled my groin (favoring or dragging the leg with the tape).  The trainer explained the groin injury the way I do here--but scared money makes no money.  If he is cleared to play, he is cleared to play.  Watch him, rotate him in for a series, etc.  Specifically, I would want to watch the matchup--who is winning more--Corbett or Hunt?  How is the defense reacting (if at all) to Hunt being in?  Etc.
    • Shannon was sued for $50 million (settled out of court, I believe) for forcing sex on his girlfriend during a two-year relationship.  He denies it, but ESPN let him go last April.  Chad Johnson's wife filed a police report because he head-butted her in a car and was put on probation. I had to google it.  I watched the Ray Rice video and when you see it, you realize just how vile and cowardly abusing a woman really is.  But for the same point Aussie tried to make, these women are defenseless, and being phyiscally bigger and stronger does not validate your actions.   I can't even stand to watch Steve Smith.  I can't normalize this kind of behavior--again, I do not think R-P had that in mind when he posted this.  When the reason was exposed, we should realize that we are talking life (quality of) and death (in some cases) here.
    • I can respect the fact that we should not glorify or normalize men who have a history of beating women.  I do not think anyone was thinking of that when they posted this, but if head-butting your wife and unconsensual sex (rape) is something you cannot overlook, I agree with that.  I think they are both half-crazed attention hounds regardless of their pasts.
