I want you guys to take a look at this page of rookies and tell me what you see:

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?archive=false&conference=null&statisticPositionCategory=DEFENSIVE_LINEMAN&season=2010&seasonType=REG&experience=0&tabSeq=1&qualified=true&Submit=Go

What I see is this...

Suh and Alualu, two top ten picks, have been playing well. Hardy, who is a 6th rounder, has been playing just as well though, and with much less playing time.

Hardy is 1 tackle behind Alualu and just 7 behind Suh.

Hardy is .5 sacks behind Alualu and just 2 behind Suh.

Hardy and Alualu have 0 interceptions while Suh just got his first.

Hardy is the only one with a forced fumble.

Hardy is the only one with a safety.

Mccoy who was picked number 3 overall right behind Suh is being outplayed by Hardy.

Hardy is outplaying Pierre-Paul who has much more help.

Derick Morgans year is a wash since he is injured and will miss the rest of it.

Basically, we currently have the second best DE in the draft and got him in the 6th round and get to pay him much much less for a few years.

Well done!

Thanks for sharing, but I just can't get excited about stats and individual rankings, such as Godfrey's INT's, etc. I'm unable to see any silver lining. Five weeks in and the season is over.

If we played in the west we would still have a shot at the division!

The point of this stuff is to sort of say, hey, look what we can build on going forward. We are getting equal or better production out of a guy who was drafted in the sixth round, compared to a guy who went tenth overall. Even Norwood has close to the same amount of tackles as Mccoy who went third overall.

Let Hardy play more. During the last game I had to ask myself after Hardy made a nice play where he was going to be soon. If you notice, Fox has a thing with taking him out quickly shortly after he makes a nice play. I fail to understand the logic. Hardy gets a sack? Hardy sits for two drives. Hardy gets a safety? Hardy sits for a series.

There are some positives this season.

Gettis is looking like he may be that lost 2nd receiver we've been dying for.

Hardy looks capable. and scary. Like, very scary. I fear he's going to kill someone, holy crap.

Godfrey shows improvement in the passing game but still has to make some go of it.

Our LB core is beasting it up in general.

Pugh had a nice play yesterday, and maybe we'll see some more out of him in the future.

    • Why don't we just say they can shove the late round draft picks up their ass? If they want a player they will be starting at WR in Week 1, I want a MLB in return that we can start Week 1. Starter for a Starter Not Starter for a draft pick we'll be debating whether or not they should make the final 53 man roster in 2026.
    • Why?   No. This isn't a situation of a player we want to trade because we have no use for them.  He's our starting slot WR, our leader of the young WR room, Bryce's safety option the last 2 years who he has good chemistry with. If the Vikings didn't run into WR trouble, we'd never have been even considering trading him, so why in the world should we give him up for fair market value in a vacuum for Thielen and disregard what losing him off our roster will do for us this year? A 5th round pick in 2026 is a negligible draft pick, especially with this season being so make or break for Bryce and Canales.
    • The Vikings acquiring all these late round picks has me feeling like we're about to see another CMC situation play out here. Trade a player we really like for the equivalent of what we want for them on the draft pick chart, but because of a bunch of late round picks instead of the one pick value we actually want. Which will do the same thing in the end, nothing, because 6th and 7th round picks rarely work out to begin with, or we're just going to use them to move up 10 picks in the 3rd or 4th round to take another DJ Johnson
