So who will start vs 49ers? Is Jimmy safe?

our only hope is David Carr starts. Then it comes defense vs. defense and who makes the bigger plays.

Smith is there Moore. He can hurt the 49ers w/ dumb mistakes....he can also really hurt an opponent w/ Vernon Davis like Moore can w/ Smitty.

I think everyone knows Alex can't suck as bad as Carr, which isn't saying much. I think they might just ride Alex out all year regardless so they can definitely have some closure and move him in the offseason.

Smith is only a risk to be benched imo if they are at home.

as for your post, people here think Clausen is 10x better than Moore.....so yeah, there are people out there that can make themselves believe anything.

Here's another wild guess...give that non-Matt Moore QB we've started this year, you know, that rookie, 150 yards rushing and a stout defense for 60 minutes and not 50...he'd have a win or two.

There are other threads in which you can continue to make your weak arguments on why Jimmy is a better QB. This is strictly about who gets the nod. Not who you think is better.

And as far as that goes, I get it. You feel, think and want Clausen to start.

Next.

As you do with Moore. I don't agree with your logic and as of now, which could change daily, the "coaching staff" doesn't either. It doesn't matter. I've enjoyed arguing with you over the past two days though.

Scared of what? Some internet tough guy? I don't do sig bets because I think they're dumb.

If Moore is starting, I hope our head coach, you know, talks to him soon.

Fox told people he wouldn't announce a starter until next Wednesday at the earliest, so don't hold your breath or assume that lack of Jimmy confirmation means Moore starts.

At this point, I hardly care. I would like to see Moore do well, but if he sucks it up I'm going to regret him starting. Not because we lose for it or whatever, but because the guy can still have a future elsewhere (admittedly as a backup) unless his entire season goes down the crapper.

I would also like to see Jimmy do well - both this season and in the future - and I'd also like to see some improvement out of him.

Who do I think starts? Jimmy. Why? Because Moore seems to think he will.

edit: if you're so sure of it, just make an open bet to the forum, RealDeal. Hell, I'd love if Moore started and actually played well. His career could be over if he starts and plays poorly, so I really really hope he makes the most of it.

Moore will start. I've been willing to do some sig bets but it seems as much as the Clausen homers want to support him they can't muster up the courage. Either they are smarter than they let on and don't believe what they type or they are just truly scared.

Honestly I'm trying to understand why Moore would start.

He hasn't shown to be any better. Some people are complaining about Clausen's fumbles and ignoring Moore's interceptions. Thier all mistakes. Clausen is making plenty. But the guy has a 4 year deal and as most have said they will need to figure out this season whether or not they need to spend big bucks to bring in someone new.

From a business standpoint there is no decision.

However, I am willing to concede that if Moore does significantly outplay Clausen in practice then he might have a shot if Fox is in fact making the call.

Since I doubt Fox is making the call, I would bet on Clausen.

I honestly think part of the problem you can't see Moore starting is because you (maybe not you in particular) haven't completely grasped just how bad Jimmy has played and try and make excuses for him. Moore has played bad but really the only thing is the interceptions. The stats show he has six but when coaches look at it they see 4. There is no way a coach holds those last two against him. It's just not realistic. Although the interceptions are bad, Moore has also shown he can lead the offense to some first downs and put some points on the board. While Jimmy has not thrown as many interceptions, he has not shown he can lead the offense and still runs the risk of turning it over as much as Moore with the fumbles. A coach also looks at how well the offense as a whole is doing when one player is in vs another and there is no argument that the offense as a whole looks better when Moore is playing.

If Moore can limit the turnovers he could return to prior form and make this team a winner again. Jimmy has more work to do to become NFL ready and I think the coaches see that.

Also I think we as fans have determined that since Jimmy is under contract there is no way he won't be here next year and since Matt is not under contract next year there is no way he is here, which isn't necessarily true. Both guys are relatively young and cheap so there is no real reason to keep one over the other. It's not like we invested 50 mil in Jimmy so we need to let him develop you know? We all know contracts in the NFL mean nothing and Clausen has very little if any guaranteed money so why not go with the better player?

I asked in another thread, look around the league and see how many QBs you can find with a winning record and a + TD/Int ratio, there just aren't many. Guys like Kyle Boller and Joey Harrington and David Carr still have jobs and have never shown as much promise as Moore has so a few bad games will NOT define his career. Finding a QB who can win in this league is tough and they don't get tossed out of the league very often.

Also, reports from all of camp and practices were that Moore has looked miles better than Clausen (must be shocking right? since Moore has not been known to be a great practice player) and if Fox is going to use practice I don't see why Moore wouldn't perform well these next two weeks.

Anyway, I am kinda over trying to convince the rest of you to see it from my viewpoint because I am in the minority I believe and it is no use. I will still be a fan whether Moore or Clausen starts which I hope is true for the rest of you as well.
