Fascinating the way the sports interviews have transitioned over the years. The favorite phrase by an athlete used to be the athlete had to look inside of his own brain "Um..", now it is apparently our responsibility to know what they are trying to say..."You know?"

Forgive me for being blunt, but isn't it a requirement to obtain a College Degree to go through a Public Speaking course? At least for me it was.

Sure there is, but the methods and practices are the same. Speak clearly, speak intelligently so you sound credible. Credibility seems to be lost these days.

Well, it's like, you know, they're, you know... professional athletes, you know?

I don't expect a single one to be able to do more than tie his shoes, much less tie any sort of coherent thought or sentence structure together. The sad part is, most of it isn't absolutely their fault.

A lot of kids today are being raised to practice whatever sport their parents believe will be their meal-ticket, and to ignore anything else that might make them well-rounded individuals. Things such as grammar and speaking properly are brushed aside for being able to sink that three-pointer or break between the tackles, and a lot of times, it's the parents pushing their kids into this behavior more than not.

Obviously, Jenks decided it was time to develop himself to be more intelligible during interviews. I'm glad to see him take personal responsibliilty in breaking those bad habits and becoming a better interview for fans to watch. Funnily enough, I've got this mental picture of him watching a TO interview and realizing how much of a dumbass he sounds, saying "you know" forty times in the space of five minutes. Hehehe...
