James Anderson: We're Not Out of it

We will more realistically end up 7-9. Not good enough for the playoffs but not bad enough for a top pick.

Well if you would rather play for a top pick, just look at how that has worked out for the 9ers...they have top 10 picks all over the place, but we just beat them with an undrafted QB and a 6th round WR. On paper, they should have destoryed us.

Top picks are overrated, as said before.

There will be plenty of impact players around where we pick. Maybe not an AJ Greene(if Gettis keeps up this level of play, the need for a WR goes away) or Patrick Peterson type player, but great players nonetheless.

I also think we'll finish around 7-9, which I'm fine with.

When your looking for a QB yes but if you need a nasty DT its about the only way to get one. I sure didn't see surr falling very far like Clausen.

I want players that think that way, reasonable or not, on my team.

Guys that give 100% all the time, never stop playing till the whistle blows, never give up on the season till it's officially over, that's what teams need, in droves.

Watching the Saints yesterday, on Bowens second pick, they pretty much just watched him run to the end zone. That's the kind of thing I never want to see in a team I cheer for.

Fans like me can be realists, but competitors compete.

Well, you can give up and hope for a top 5 pick if you want to, but I sure as hell don't want any of those players or coaches to take that defeatist attitude. Like I said, the 49ers have been picking high in the 1st round for years...

There is no one even comparable to Suh in this draft. There will still be good DT's in our range.

We probably would have traded a top pick anyways.

i hope none of the guys think we're out of it. i want them believing that they have a chance every time they hit the field. more than that, i want them to always believe that they are always close to losing and that their individual performance will be the difference between a W or a L. every game and the fate of the season rests squarely on their shoulders.

Look at TB,Ravens or ATL. Even the Rams are doing good.

No one says we even have to pick from there. We could get our 2nd back if we trade down.

Besides that, free agency is usually just as good for upgrading the D-line and the Panthers will have plenty of money to spend this time. Honestly, I don't think our D-line is that bad anyway. Sure, they're giving up some rushing yardage, but look at where they are ranked overall. The D has been playing good enough to win. They need to start better though

Heck, even Nick Hayden has been making some nice plays recently.

Check it out, our D is ranked 8th overall...http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?archive=false&conference=null&role=OPP&offensiveStatisticCategory=null&defensiveStatisticCategory=TOTAL_YARDS&season=2010&seasonType=REG&tabSeq=2&qualified=true&Submit=Go

Who wouldn't have been happy with that back when we all thought the D had been taken apart by the FO?

Yeah I know that. I guess I'll just say that I'd rather the Panthers win games than lose out the rest of the season for a top draft pick, when chances are they won't take the player I'd like for them to take anyways.

The way I see it is if they are able to win games with the team now, then they'll be fine next season with or without that top draft pick.
