DeAngelo Williams-RB- Panthers Oct. 25 - 8:15 am et

DeAngelo Williams' foot injury is not believed to be serious, a team official tells the Gaston Gazette.

Coach John Fox confirmed the injury, but it sounds like a little tweak caused Williams to hobble off the field late in Sunday's win. If Williams is indeed healthy, his arrow is pointing up with Matt Moore looking capable and a soft spot in the schedule looming. Williams' 23 touches in Week 7 were a season high.

I personally was very frustrated with the way D-Will has been playing lately. Yes we have a horrid O-line but still he has made some bad decisions and has had trouble holding onto the ball. Against the Saints he single handedly pushed us out of field goal range when he had an easy 2-3 yds up the middle. This past week he fumbled once again trying to be a super hero on a busted play. At some point you have to go down and take what you can get rather then put the ball on the ground or loose yardage.

Dont get me wrong. I love D-Will and he is as good as any other back in the league. But I think the fact that we have such a bad o-line has really caused him to try and do way to much resulting in some bad decisions that cost the team.

there is almost nothing there, ever, for either back. I can understand, especially with his cutting ability...that he might try to make something out of nothing.

I think things will change this weekend. Both running backs are running with an unimaginative scheme and with no blocking.

Fox repeated the day to day thing on his serius interview a few minutes ago. He also implied it wasn't too bad and they would see at practice.

They asked him about Stewart as well mentioning how unstoppable he was at the end of last year. Fox talked about how missing camp reps and the rehab causes him to start slow. Said he is just now starting to get into football shape.

Otah is getting closer but he still didn't shed any more light on just how serious that surgery was. Ryan asked if it was a full reconstruction and Fox avoided answering that straight out

    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
    • Canales can never get his teams ready in the first week of the season so far. Hope that changes or Ben Johnson is going to take his azz to school.
