Give this man some credit too

one game, but yeah...seems like he might be having some success. gettis was impressive but who would have figured lafell getting targeted 6 times and catching all of them?

Why is that so surprising? A lot of these "drops" LaFall has had, were way overblown, IMO. I've seen maybe 2-3 that were legitimate drops, the rest were either good plays be the DB or off target and had enough velocity to make them very hard catches. Moose wouldn't have caught some of those passes either.

Someone needs to make a "give this guy some credit..." thread about Rhys Lloyd. Dude was mediocre last year but it looks like he's back to top form.

I don't like the whole idea of a Kick off specialist but he is doing well. It's just annoying in that I bet if Kasay went down with an injury we would sign a new kicker rather than promote Lloyd. When Kasay is sent out to pasture I hope we just sign a bluechip Kicker and be done with it. Activating and keeping them both is inefficient. Replacing one of them with a wildcat QB, 5th DT, or a ST Ace would be really nice.

With that huge 55 yarder the other day though, Kasay and Lloyd may be around for a while.

meh, it's really just the weather.

These mild temps right now are helping him out. Once it gets to be cold out his kicks will lose some of their oomph.

The ball needs to be firm but pliable for max distance. extreme heat and cold really affect his range.

I didn't see SF's kicker getting a ton of help from the temperature.

i wonder if it would be against the rules to heat up the K balls when the cooler temps get here. they wipe the rain and mud off. why not be able to warm them up?

you can't from what I understand.

The NFL just wants more exciting plays, Touchbacks not so much

he went from lafell to lafail and now he's back to lafell again

he did a great job sunday. plus with gettis established as a huge threat with the focus on him and Smith, Lafell might be getting those breaks and have a 100 yard performance this week, and maybe if we can get something good out of this season it would be a receiving game by committee type thing like the giants have right now with Nicks, Smith and Manningham.

    • I'm happy with TMac, but Tyler Warren was last season's Tyler Linderbaum for me in that he was at a position that wasn't one of the five pillars but he was the best player at his position AND one of the top talents in the draft. I cannot fuging wait for the Panthers to start winning again so that those guys fall to us like they seem to for teams like Baltimore & Philadelphia.
    • Still working on consuming all of these so I don't have summaries available, but I figured there might be another Huddler or three trying to kill time before tonight's final preseason game.   Panthers Blueprint: Training Camp The in-house produced Blueprint series has given behind-the-scenes look on the field and off. Start the day with Robert Hunt's family, be in the morning meetings, mic'd up players during practice (Jaycee, Rozeboom, Icky, and Bryce), roster evaluations by the staff, and plenty of camp highlights capping off with FanFest.   Processing Blue (Mike Kaye & Alex Zietlow Mike and Alex are back talking about a variety of topics including but not limited to: joint practice + preseason game vs. Houston, Trey Hendrickson trade rumors involving Carolina, training camp awards, draft pick draft, and various thoughts about the team.   Jordan & Jake 706: Opening Day Another in-house Panthers' production, the most recent episode of Jordan and Jake talk about how to properly balance intensity in practice, react to the starters being shutdown for the preseason finale, share their thoughts on the newest Panther QB, and more.   Raw Room - Ep 278 - Gas Pedal (ft. Mike Davis) Assistant special teams' coach Darren Bates' Raw Room podcast has former Panthers' RB Mike Davis on his weekly podcast. I'm about halfway through this one and it's been a lot of fun. The Raw Room guys (DB, his friend Alex Sweets, former Eagles/Chargers OT King Dunlap, and former Atlanta DB Jalen Collins) are hilarious and Mike fits right in. They talk about his football experience coming up, decommitting from Florida and how he decided on South Carolina, and more. Warning: If you're the type of person that is easily distracted by accents, despite XL being on the team, you might have issues with understanding the Memphis dialect. If you don't care about how somebody talks, just what they're talking about, tune in!
    • Allen was borderline unplayable in College.  He's an absolute unicorn in terms of his career panning out the way it has.
