Rams vs. Panthers

I like to come onto the opponents boards and read what they have to say before the game because it gives me another perspective on how the game will play out. However, when I read the first few pages of this thread, I felt I must make an account and post here. I apologize on behalf of the logical and reasonable Rams fans everywhere for the behavior of those two. They represented our fanbase poorly. I think the average Rams fan realizes that this game is likely going to be a close one and we really aren't good enough and haven't been good enough of late to trash talk anyone. I go to school in the Carolinas and I am friends with quite a few Panther fans so I realize that most are reasonable people.

Here are my completely biased thoughts on the game, I think it will be an entertaining one to watch. The Panthers have talent on offense and are especially dangerous with a 2 headed running attack of Stewart and Williams. I felt like Stewart would break out this year and be a top rusher in the NFL but he hasn't played well. Still, when he's on his game, he's nearly unstoppable. Matt Moore is a little streaky but he's a solid game manager and I don't think the first couple games are entirely indicative of his ability as a QB as he was great down the stretch last year. I fully expect a hard fought game that could go either ways, luckily for the Rams, it's at home. The Rams play much better there. I am hoping we'll see more of Danario Alexander this week and I am hoping that Bradford will rebound from his poor performance vs. Tampa Bay. The Rams are quick starters, they always play well in the first half but the issue is that they play poorly in the 2nd half so if you're down at half by a TD or two. Don't get too down, the Rams will probably let you back into the game. The keys for the Panthers are to establish their run game and stop Steven Jackson(if he plays). The keys for the Rams are to capitalize on turnovers(stop dropping ints) and move the ball effectively through the air. Good luck Carolina but not too much luck, hopefully there aren't any key injuries this week. I do like the Panthers and think you guys could be scary in a year or two but I think it's Fox's time to go.

The only thing scary about the rams is the Jackson. But he's not gonna get many chances when Godfrey and Marshall are pickin Bradford off all game. I doubt the Panthers will get many if any sacks but Conner, Hardy, Johnson and the rest of the d are gonna be breathing down his neck. Hey, maybe Beason will get in on the pick action too.

I have stayed out of alot of discussions this week but I just watched the 49'ers game again and our receivers ran some really great routes. I was at the game and didn't notice at the time but Gettis really put it on some good cb's. I expect us to really take it to the rams this week because you can't guard Gettis one on one and the same goes with Smitty. I expect us to run the ball well this week and the defense has played great all year so I expect the same from them. My prediction is 24-10 Panthers as long as the O-line keeps pass blocking like they did last week.

Some keys for the Panthers to win this week.

Win the turnover battle and stop fumbling and throwing picks.

Stop the Rams running game and make Bradford throw all day.

Get points early instead of having to dig out of a big hole.

Establish the pass early so we can run later in the game when we need to.

Win the special teams battle.

Simple, right?

I don't think we have to do all of those to beat the Rams, maybe to beat Pitt or Baltimore but not the Rams. I think we just need the O-line to play like they did last week and give Moore time to throw the ball and not turn the ball over. We definitely need to stop Jackson and make Bradford throw the ball and I think we win the game easily. It really is a simple game plan.:D

I hope you are right but the Rams are a different team at home than they are away.

With our team right now, we aren't good enough to make a bunch of mistakes and still win. Like against SF last week, we almost lost due to a pick 6 and a couple of fumbles when we actually outplayed them most of the day.

I think we will have to play well on Sunday in order to beat St Louis. It won't be as easy as some folks think.

I'm going to say that

Jackson has a good game overall while Bradford is picked off a couple of times.

The panthers run game gets going slightly more so then in past weeks (not great on the ground, but enough) , while moore has an average - above average game. say 1 or 2 TD's and a INT.

Panthers win a close one

20-17
