Could it be more serious than we thought?

Panthers' DeAngelo Williams sits out

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams has missed practice with a foot injury.

Williams sat out Wednesday after hobbling off the field in the final minute of Sunday's win over San Francisco. Coach John Fox provided no update on his condition.

After rushing for more than 1,100 yards last season, Williams has been held to 367 yards on 87 carries in six games this season.

The Panthers were still without right tackle Jeff Otah, who hasn't played or practiced this season because of a sore knee.

Defensive end Tyler Brayton missed practice Wednesday for a personal matter, but Fox says he'll return Thursday.

The Panthers also placed reserve linebacker Jamar Williams on season-ending injured reserve with a neck injury, replacing him on the 53-man roster by signing linebacker Abdul Hodge.

we will be fine. If we gotta run Stewart/Goodson that is plenty of punch. Stewart could probably use some heavy reps to finally get the ball rolling.

Stewart needs the O line to be top shape for him to be effective though. DWill at least managed a little something on the outside. Not sure if any amount of practice will improve that O-line much more without Otah.

Maybe we can just use Stewart as a receiver again though and hope no one sees him.:D

well if it is just Stewart maybe they pull some guys out of the box....that is why the OL looks like crap. Fox has said it is pointless to watch film on opponents b/c all are using the same blueprint. If the Rams do what everyone else has done.....the game again will come down to the pass and the Rams asking us to hit WRs in single coverage.

You know, now that I think about it, I'm actually kind of ok with that. Could work out for the better. I want to see another 41 passing attempts and if DWill isn't 100% it bodes well for that.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
