Just watching the bobcats game on sportssouth..and they commentators said "Well its good to see Thomas Davis here tonight..blah blah...he said his target date back on the field is November 14th, it'll be good to see him back on the field for the panthers."

obviously thats not exactly comma for comma what they said..but for all immediate purposes it is. interesting...

He keeps blowing it out. If they were smart they would IR him and let him rest it till next season. It takes about 6 to 8 months for it to totally heal and about two full years before your brain tells you you can trust it as a player. IR him, our defense can survive without him this year. Especially since we are playoff bound at this point!

So if he sees the field on the 14th, he should be ready to start by December given he needs time to get up to game condition. We should see by that time if we want to keep things as they are and use him in a rotation or change things up and start him. Hopefully injuries don't dictate that.

A player who begins the regular season on the PUP list must sit out his team's first six games.

OK, that happened last week

After that point, a team has three weeks to start having the player practice; once the player begins practicing,

So theres your Nov 14th reference

the team has another three weeks to put the player on the active roster.

There's the date to watch for if he has any chance of playing this year.

If the player is not activated by that time, or if he does not begin practicing within that three week window, he must remain on the PUP list for the remainder of the season

So in essence - if physically able and no problems with pain, strength, stamina - you might have him for 4 games - more if by some miracle we make the playoffs - this could very well be his audition.

I could see where he would want to play this year and show the management that he is worth holding onto in case the lock out does not happen. You hate to see your value decline or become into question because you had a "season ending injury" before TC even started.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that's so obsessed they delve into player psychology.

I was thinking about something similar with Smith, and how his sprain ankle could have actually been a good thing for him. After breaking his arm twice you could tell he was hesitant about it, and he admitted to it, in the beginning of the season, so when he twisted his ankle, I kept wondering if this new injury and the pain of walking on it took his mind off his arm.

It's a real backwards way of looking at it, but it's kind of fighting fire with fire.

    • Jack Roslovic: Only 2 other UFA, right-handed centers age 28 or under had more points (39) than him- Sam Bennett (51) and Pius Suter (46). There were 4 other centers age 33 and older who scored more: Gireaux (37), Marchand (37), Tavares (34), Granlund (33).  Unless the Canes go old, if they let Jack walk, they won't get a center who scored more.  Thoughts?
    • nope     This is why we come back every year.  Hope springs eternal
    • It's important to differentiate criticism and hate. I can't speak for that individual you quoted. But most people who have been critical of the Tepper's have been so because both of them have made it a point to put themselves front and center and in the middle of team operations and we have been largely horrific more often than not as a result. If people are making derogatory remarks about her that should be met with an appropriate response but if people are being defensive just because she's being criticized all I can say is people should get used to it. Both her and David would have been getting absolutely skewered by the media and the fans if this were a big market franchise. The Lakers are finally being sold off after years and years of public criticism of Jeannie Buss and even though I'm the furthest you could go from being a Lakers fan just about anyone you could meet who is familiar with the NBA would say the criticism was certainly valid.
